Metro... In Dino - A Heartfelt Ride Through Love, Life & Chaos!!

Metro... In Dino isn't just a film-it's an emotion for anyone trying to keep up with this fast-paced, ever-changing modern life. Set in the heart of today's buzzing cities, the movie beautifully captures the hustle, the heartbreaks, and the human connections that somehow manage to survive it all.

It dives into the lives of different couples-young love, old love, lost love, and love that's still figuring itself out. And through each story, you're gently reminded of how life teaches us, molds us, and sometimes... surprises us.

From breakups that sting to moments that make your heart flutter again, this film makes you pause and reflect. You'll find bits of yourself in these characters-the confusion, the longing, the hope. And just like Life in a... Metro (2007), this one hits home in a nostalgic way.

And then there's Anurag Basu's magic. His storytelling is honest, raw, and full of warmth. Every frame feels like a slice of real life. And let's not forget Pritam's soulful music-it flows through the film like a gentle breeze, lifting every emotion higher.

This isn't just a film you watch-it's a film you feel.

If you're someone who's ever loved, lost, or lived in the chaos of a metro city... Metro... In Dino is your story.

    Relationships- a facade?

It's all about urban relationships- the facade we have to maintain at times in order to keep our relationships going. Social media posts often are most colourful when relationships are at their worst. The younger lot comprising Chumki( Sara Ali Khan is good) , Shruti ( Fatima has improved her acting skills a lot) are at times fickle in their relationships and seem to be sitting on a fence whereas the elderly- Shivani ( Neena Gupta is brilliant)and Sanjeev Ghosh ( Saswata Chatterjee looks the part) who have tolerated each other longer, have got used to living with each other. There so-called more permanent coexistence is not because they love each other madly. It's a facade again because they don't want to roil the fabric of their families and they have to live upto social expectations. Their daughter Kajol ( Kankana the natural) and her hubby Monty ( the master Pankaj Tripaathi) are going through a midlife crisis in their relationship. Monty crosses the line and his family life is on the verge of ruins.

After a long long hiatus, Shivani and her once flame Parimal ( Anupam Kher is convincing in whichever part he does) get together at a college reunion. Fond memories are rekindled. Old age companionship fills their lives with joys however temporary.

How these complex issues are brought on the rails, is the story in the second half. The movie is little too long. It could have done with tighter editing. Characters singing songs to narrate their stories directly to viewers is an interesting experiment but at times it's a tad tedious.

Acting wise the film leaves nothing to be desired. All principal characters have acquitted themselves with elan. Pritam's musical score is good but too loud and interfering at times.

    Pretty watchable Metro... is.

    Musically rich, emotionally rushed.

Metro In Dino opens with one of the best musical beginnings, where characters break the fourth wall and instantly pull you in. You do not even realise when twenty minutes have flown by. Everyone in the cast does well, though Ali and Fatima come across as slightly stiff in emotionally charged scenes. Adi is effortless and charismatic, and Sara pairs well with him. Neena Gupta and Anupam Kher remind you of their experience with ease. Pankaj and Konkona are the real standouts, with Pankaj bringing sharp comic timing through his subtle expressions and improvised bits. Pritam's music is wonderfully woven into the narrative. The songs do not just support the story, they carry its soul.

The first half is tight and keeps you thoroughly engaged.

It is the second half where the film loses some grip. The storylines begin to feel stretched, and the endings are not clearly defined. A few subplots could have been skipped to bring in more clarity and depth. That said, the camerawork and visual setups in some scenes are beautiful and worth appreciating. The film explores themes of infidelity and emotional detachment, and it leaves you with a feeling that this is the generalisation the film wants you to settle with. The resolution feels rushed and a bit too convenient. In the end, Metro In Dino remains a musically rich experience with a gripping first half, but the latter part misses the same emotional weight and leaves you wishing for a more satisfying conclusion.

    OVERALL 7.5/10.

    Enjoyable Relationship Rollercoster...

Truly relatable and insightful look into diverse married lives. The film skillfully presents various relationship scenarios, making its content highly resonant.

The music was outstanding, featuring beautifully crafted songs with exceptionally good lyrics. While some dialogues transitioned into songs (reminiscent of Jagga Jasoos), the overall musical brilliance significantly enhanced the experience. The movie effectively covers a broad spectrum of marital themes, punctuated by well-placed sprinkles of humor.

Performances were generally strong: Ali Fazal's character was deeply affecting as a broken man, and Fatima Sana Shaikh compellingly portrayed her fight for career, love, and child. Pankaj Tripathi was, as always, phenomenal, alongside Anupam Kher's stressed character and Neena Gupta's perfect portrayal. Konkona's role felt a bit stretched, and Sara Ali Khan was average, while Aditya Roy Kapur's character leaned a bit too "filmy."

Despite minor issues, this segment of "Metro In Dino" is a great movie and definitely warrants a one-time watch for its heart and relatability.

A BIG NO from me !

Not sure from where this movie is getting all those rave reviews. For someone who has watched first one like 10 times, it was easy to guess that the makers actually tried to make a failed and a toxic replica. May be in life of all these celebrities but stuff shown in this movie doesn't happen in real people's life. The funda of first casually sabotaging a relationship and then applying a bandage over it was new and used to work 18 years ago but not today. People understand the value of a relationship and what it takes to build it no matter what kind of past they have. I literally found the movie way too negative. Lots of cliched dialogs, deliberate attempts of including hidden adult content in songs, Sara Ali Khan.... I mean there were so many things that were wrong about this movie.
