Bodil Udsen had been hired by the department for juvenile viewers at Danmarks Radio (B&U) to host a new and yet unspecified show. Udsen convinced her friend Jytte Abildstrøm to join her and to form a female duo a la Laurel & Hardy. This led to Lirumlarum which introduced Abildstrøm to B&U as well as to writer Jytte Hauch-Fausbøll. Soon after, Abildstrøm was engaged for the leading act that gave her a popular breakthrough as Sonja's mother Norma in Hauch-Fausbøll's new series 'Sonja fra Saxogade'.
