This movie was really good. "Low budget" doesn't mean bad. More entertaining than most Hollywood films recently released. I didn't fall asleep watching this like I have watching other multi million dollar productions. Anyone just making complaints about this film either 1) didn't watch it 2) just want to hate someone that made something because they never made anything 3) have no idea what a good film is 4) watched it but just looked for anything negative instead of what story was being told and all the Easter eggs left for the viewer to discover.
I watched this movie when I heard it was coming out because so many "critics" were saying one thing but then gave it a low rating. It didn't add up. I watched this movie twice in upstate ny and I am glad I did. I was correct. These so called "critics" aren't making any sense. You can tell after watching this film that they liked it but it hurts them to admit it or that they never watched the movie and just want to seem edgy and "funny". Which the movie has way more funny lines and it is a good mixture of real life. It almost seems as though it's a real story with elements of imagination.
If the name of the film makes you squeamish you don't even like horror films and shouldn't be making a review. Someone wrote there are not enough kills. Over 10 and counting isn't enough? And these kills looked real. You wonder if anyone actually got hurt in the making of this movie they look and sound so realistic. The story alone kept me riveted because I could relate and even sympathize with the "killer". Think Falling Down meets (Friday the 13th/Halloween) you pick one. And there's a plot and side plots that bind this movie together. Nothing feels wasted.
Now let's discuss the killer. Not one word uttered yet he said tons just with facial expressions and eye movement. This alone with the kills gives this movie at least a 7 and then everything else just makes it better. People focusing on this actors weight because they can't find anything else to ridicule about his performance speaks volumes again about how much hate is in their hearts. They should be ashamed and that goes to the story as well. They hate this movie because it exposes who they are inside. That makes sense. Most people don't like the ugly about themselves and lash out when they see it in their face.
I saw this movie twice and probably will see it in the theater again before it comes to streaming because I know I didn't catch everything the first two times. I rarely watch a movie more than once. So that should indicate how good this movie is. Perfect? No not at all. There are some parts that I wouldn't have put into this movie. But definitely worth seeing especially if you claim to like horror/thrillers.

This film is for grown ups that want to watch a real movie. I say that because, this film actually has a story to tell and is not just about killing people in new and disgusting ways
With a captivating storyline and tense horror, "The Omicron Killer" offers a perfect blend of mystery and suspense. From start to finish, viewers are immersed in a dark and thought-provoking atmosphere. I watched it at the Film Noir Cinema Brooklyn Premiere with a packed audience and it was worth it. The audience loved it just as much as I did and that made the experience that much better.
Great film and an even greater theatrical experience.

The Omicron Killer was an odd experience. I honestly didn't realize it was intended to be a comedy until about 20 minutes into the movie. But what kind of comedy? It seems to be wanting to satirize parts of the COVID pandemic, while other times it's a screwball comedy. What it isn't, is a dark comedy, which might have served it better.
The movie begins in mid 2020 with the killing of a serial killer who's been dubbed, "The COVID Killer". For reasons unknown, he had become something of a celebrity and now a small cult of devil-worshippers is conducting rituals at his grave to resurrect him. Jump to 2021 and there's a copycat killer murdering random people called "The Omicron Killer". Haha, oh I see, like the Omicron Variant...bet you forgot about that. He's sort of a vigilante, but also just a psychopath. Like any slasher, he wears a mask, but it's a disposable surgical mask. Okay. The rest of the movie is kind of about a group of bumbling detectives who try to catch him, even though everyone seems to know who he is already.
The pacing and editing is confusing with weird side plots and scenes that are never resolved or explained. There's a group of children who want to stop the Omicron Killer themselves, goofball TV newscasters who try to explain what's happening, a hospital nurse who is inexplicably attracted to the killer, a doctor who seems insane and I'm not even sure if he was a doctor. A lap dance with someone...I forget if he was a cop or something. There are TWO pairs of buddy cops. One pair is cartoonishly silly, while the other pair is by-the-books. Oh, and the chief is the mom of one of the cops. There are not-so-subtle nods to Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th that feel shoehorned in.
If all that sounds exhausting, it kind of is. Strangely, about an hour into the film, I started to understand that this might have been the intention. Just to make a silly movie with minimal plot that's meant to be a ridiculous party film. Maybe?
On a more positive note, the practical effects were pretty good, with some decent crowbar kills. Felissa Rose (Sleepaway Camp) plays the cult leader and brings her usual boisterous energy. It's always fun to see where Felissa pops up.
I'm a huge supporter of indie passion projects and hope Jeff Knite, the writer/director/actor of Omicron Killer continues to make movies his way.
I suspect this may have begun as a story written to satirize the pandemic, but a whole bunch of other ideas got thrown into the mix and made it a bit unfocused. Comedy is a very personal thing; unfortunately, not much here amused me other than the confusing nature of what I was watching. I have a feeling it will resonate with a certain audience. Put it on in the background of a party and I guarantee it will bring people together who will love the experience. Bring an open mind and plenty of weed.

I watched this film while visiting Indonesia a few weeks ago. I was skeptical at first because I never heard of it. But I am glad I watched it because it's a really good film with a unique premise. With a wacky high-concept and a stellar ensemble cast, this movie takes the well-worn slasher trope and infuses it with a fresh, balletic twist.
The film's direction by Jeff Knite is slick and stylish, ensuring that the action scenes are well-choreographed and the blood splatter looks viscously authentic. Despite its conventional setup, "The Omicron KIller" manages to keep the audience engaged with its quick pace and laugh-out-loud humor.
It also has the beautiful Bai Ling in it, who is wonderful as Nurse Nancy. I highly recommend this gem of a film.

The funny thing is I knew this movie was going to be tons of fun by the simple fact that this has to be one of the corniest premises for a slasher flick. I was not disappointed. Now realistically this is a 8.5 movie. It's well done for what it is but its still nothing close to amazing cinema but I'm giving it the 10 stars because I loved the entire cast. I was expecting it to be another trash slasher film like many other movies in recent years, but this movie actually surprised me in a good way. I thought the kills were pretty brutal and just overall is a fun movie to watch. I recommend this movie to anyone who likes horror or slasher films in general.
