Counter Attack

This BL comedy suffers from bad screen writing and directing. For the first few episodes the actors seemed to not be able to act decently. But halfway to the end, they seemed to be acting decently. That's how I know that the fault lies in the directing. Also they depicted gay relationships as toxic and abusive in this series. But come to think of it, that's how people used to picture gay relationships in early 2000s. No wonder this series turned out this way. Also considering the Chinese government ban on all homosexual related things, the fact that this one didn't get banned is baffling. Cause some scenes were almost pornographic.

Well, here we go again, fetishizing abuse and ignoring consent and using it all for laughs. At least they're not stepbrothers right?

I should've known what I was getting myself into with this based off of a novel by the woman who wrote Addicted Heroin.

Also, wild that China was making these in 2015. It's pretty explicit. And then in 2016 Addicted Heroin got into trouble and nothing was the same again in Chinese BL, till it wasn't at all.

So I hope the remake that is about to come out will make a tamer, more acceptable version of this, as they did with Stay With Me.

Once again, this cannot be how sexuality works dammit! It's funny but on second thought not so funny...
