Realistic and touching

Touching and thought provoking film! This is reality...a poor maid servant's travails while desperately searching for her young daughter is conveyed in a poignant manner. Loved the scene where a Amba Bhavani pooja is performed in the girl's home when her husband is keen on aborting her girl child! Kudos to the director for bringing out the desperation and the pains the poor are subjected to. I am not very proficient in Kannada I must admit but I could appreciate the film thanks to the actors and the English sub titles.

Waste of time

A very poor storyline, direction and rests your patience! Absolutely ridiculous and feels you are daily serials. This is utter waste of time. I don't recommend watching this. Unnecessarily dragged and there is no relevance of the scenes. The movie is ideally 30 mins but like daily soaps it is dragged This could have been a excellent storyline but very poorly done and direction has no sense. Some actors were good but it utter waste of time watching this movie. I personally don't recommend and still not sure how this got 7+ rating. The ratings are deceiving. I watched one complete nonsenses movies after a long time by looking at the rating. I regret for wasting my 2 hrs of my time. Don't go by the ratings and reviewers provided earlier.

Realistic portrayal of classism and moral hypocrisy in Indian society

Tallana attempts to tackle many touchy subjects including bureaucracy, classism, male chauvinism and moral hypocrisy. While it's not entirely successful in reaching the heights of say, Tabarana Kathe, it's nevertheless a commendable effort in realistic cinema focusing on contemporary social issues. The narrative is ably supported by the main cast (the excellent Nirmala Chennappa as Jaya, the protagonist and a solid turn by Sridhar as Sadanand, the concerned landlord and father) as well as a polished support cast. The ending is more filmy than you'd expect given Director Sudarshan's projected ambitions but it might be a nod to the fatalistic philosophy prevalent in our society.
