The scariest thing was the botox filled lips and faces of the actresses.
Was it set in modern times because you could see electric light switches on all the walls plus plug sockets in the skirting boards and in one scene there was a home security keypad on the wall next to a white wall mounted telephone.
Some rooms were candlelit while others had electric table lamps.
The whole thing was just a messy shambles that made no sense whatsoever.
But I have to reiterate, were the faces of the leading ladies their own or did they deliberately have loads of lip fillers etc before filming to make them look so hideous?

Of course I am familiar with the classic fairy tale, upon which this 2024 is loosely based, and I must admit that it was with a certain amount of skepticism when I sat down to watch what director Louisa Warren had to deliver with thee 2024 movie "Cinderella's Curse". But with it being movie that I hadn't already seen, and a horror take on the fairy tale, of course I opted to check out the movie.
Writer Harry Boxley was very liberal in his dismemberment of Charles Perrault's original "Cinderella" fairy tale. Sure, there were similarities, but the script was very loosely based on the original work. With that being said, don't get me wrong, because I am not saying that it was all bad. The script actually proved to be entertaining, surprisingly enough, taking into consideration the premise of the script. It was as if writer Harry Boxley decided to make an unholy union between the original "Cinderella" fairy tale and the "Carrie" movie from 1976.
The random flashes of horrors yet to come that was used in abundance ultimately grew annoying, because director Louisa Warren overdid it. They were too numerous and too frequent, disrupting the narrative more than it furthered the narrative.
I was only familiar with Chrissie Wunna and Danielle Scott on the cast list. Yeah, I've seen my share of low budget horror movies to be familiar with those two. It should be noted, however, that the acting performances in the movie were actually fair.
The special effects in the movie were surprisingly good. And I have to say that I was somewhat surprised at the level of visceral mayhem and gore that was displayed throughout the course of the movie. It was something that most definitely helped adding to the overall enjoyment of the movie.
My rating of Louisa Warren's interpretation of the classic fairy tale in the form of "Cinderella's Curse" lands on a four out of ten stars.

The movie is so bad, the make up looks great but other then that... the special effects are terrible for a movie from 2024.. the acting is not convincing enough and overall it's just way to much blood. I was hoping for suspense but I cringed more.
I really wished this was a better movie but I guess you're better off finding another horror if that's what ur into! Cinderellas curse is nothing I wished it would be. It's all over the place and the storyline is very weak! I hate bashing on a movie so much cause I'm sure they all worked hard to make it but it just didn't pay off whatsoever! But again props to the make up team!

... it's just so poorly executed. I.e, the storytelling is s**t. It doesn't unfold in any good way. We're thrown into an action scene to start. It's a teaser. It shows us the kind of thing to expect in the rest of the movie. "This is what we're selling" the filmmakers are saying. All right. But then following that, instead of going into a proper beginning where everything is clearly set up, we meet the protagonist, we are given a reason to like them and root for them, etc, etc, we're just thrown into the middle of another bit of action, but it's just meaningless dramatics at this point because nothing has been set up. We're feeling nothing, nor could we be expected to because we know nothing yet about what's going on. The director's storytelling instincts just aren't there. Unfortunately this is a movie that starts off on the wrong foot and pretty much just hobbles along from there.
This was nothing but a low rent Carrie remake with a hint of the Cinderella fairy tale thrown in. There really isn't anything good I can say about this. I only gave it a two because it killed an hour on a Saturday night. Not bad if you want to make a drinking game out of finding all the continuity errors.
Every one of the characters and the actors were annoying. The "effects," what there were of them, couldn't have been worse if they were hand drawn and animated by a three year old with a crayon. The flashbacks were annoying and made no sense whatsoever. The opening sequence had zero bearing on the rest of the movie at all.
Oh good.... Minimum character limit met. Thank God, because I could not talk about this trainwreck any longer.

- WissenswertesMore than once we see modern lamps, shades and all, sitting on tables. After the ballroom scene, an electric light switch is also visible in a hallway near Cinderella's head.
