The series is exciting, and the plot is well-crafted and unexpected.
Strengths of the series:
The story is filled with mystery and suspense.
The direction and cinematography are of high quality, with excellent use of lighting and colors.
Asser Yassin's performance was impactful, while Mahmoud Hemida delivered the best performance in the series. Additionally, in my opinion, this was Rakeen Saad's strongest role to date.
The number of episodes was appropriate, and the series remained engaging without becoming boring.
Each episode's ending was thrilling and left me eager to watch the next one. The best aspect was that the series was released all at once, rather than on a daily or weekly basis.
Weaknesses of the series:
Shereef Salama's performance was the weakest I've seen from him. His reactions were repetitive and lacked depth, which is disappointing given his acting skills.
There was some repetition of past scenes without adding any new value to the story.
In conclusion, I must emphasize that the series was excellent. I was highly engaged and thrilled while watching it, and I personally consider it the best Egyptian series of 2024.

"Echoes of the Past" is an Egyptian adaptation of the Mexican thriller "Who Killed Sara?", but unfortunately, it struggles to live up to its source material. While the series attempts to localize the story by embedding Egyptian cultural elements and societal nuances, it fails to create the suspense or emotional depth that made the original so compelling. The pacing is painfully slow, with long stretches of unengaging dialogue that add little to the plot. Most of the performances, apart from a few notable exceptions, lack energy and believability, making it difficult to connect with the characters.
The technical execution also leaves much to be desired. The visuals, particularly the CGI used in underwater scenes, feel outdated and poorly integrated, detracting from the overall quality. Even the soundtrack, which could have elevated key moments, feels uninspired and does little to enhance the experience. Instead of building on the strengths of the original, the series feels like a hollow replica, struggling to find its own identity.
In the end, "Echoes of the Past" comes across as a missed opportunity. Its attempts to adapt a globally successful show fall flat due to weak storytelling, uninspired performances, and a lack of technical finesse. As an adaptation, it fails to capture the intensity and intrigue of the original, making it a disappointing watch that earns a 3/10 rating.

One of the best Egyptian series I have ever watched! It was full of plot twists, and each episode kept me on the edge of my seat, emotionally invested. Seriously, you'll never be able to predict what will happen next.
I kept admiring the cinematic shots, the locations, and the way the camera zoomed in and out in every single episode.
The cast was perfect, and everyone was well-suited to their roles. They were believable, and I especially liked the villain.
Another great aspect was that the series had only 8 episodes, which allowed them to focus on the story without unnecessary shots or side plots. Every detail was important, and nothing felt like filler.
Overall, it's a fantastic series, and I would definitely recommend it to everyone.

"Echoes from the Past" is an impressive effort by Egyptian standards, delivering a captivating story with solid performances and a well-cast ensemble. The series succeeds in presenting a polished production that keeps viewers engaged throughout its run.
However, when viewed through the lens of a global audience, it doesn't quite break new ground. I've heard that the show is a remake of the Mexican series Who Killed Sara?-a series I haven't watched, but based on the storyline, it seems believable. While it adapts the premise effectively for an Egyptian context, it may feel less original to those familiar with the original series.
That said, the acting is commendable, with the performances striking a good balance without leaning into melodrama. The cast fits their roles seamlessly, which enhances the overall viewing experience.
Overall, Echoes from the Past is a solid 7/10. It's an enjoyable watch, especially for fans of Egyptian dramas, but it might not leave a lasting impression on an international scale.

And yes, echoes of the past its just another remake. A remake of the mexican series who killed sara. If you see the original just dont waste time. Its the same in other language. It takes just 5 to 10 minutes to start thinking i alrrady saw that. There are minor changes instead of a paraglide its a diving accident. But just the same i didnt go further than chapter 2. If you enjoyed the original maybe you like this one but it.wont surprise you. The locations are very intresting and its what i enjoyed more. The acting is good but it wont won a golden globe or bafta my recomendation find another series.
