The only thing I somewhat enjoyed about this movie was its attempt at 80s-style cinematography. It had that nostalgic glow, but it's not even close to the immersive atmosphere you get in shows like Stranger Things or Euphoria. That alone barely earns it 2 stars. The rest? Honestly, a disaster. The acting is flat, unconvincing, and often cringeworthy. The dialogue is so poorly written it feels like it was thrown together in a rush without any thought. It lacks rhythm, wit, or even basic realism. The pacing drags, scenes feel repetitive, and it completely fails to build suspense or emotional depth. As someone else said, you really do have to turn off your brain to get through this. It's like a cheap, uninspired knockoff of Scream, but without the cleverness or thrills. Just another cookie-cutter slasher flick pretending to be retro-cool while delivering nothing new or worth remembering. A missed opportunity, plain and simple.
Honestly, I really liked the previous Fear Street movies. This one however is truly dreadful in every conceivable way. The characters are just so dull, from the mean girl prom queen, who let's be honest would struggle to be described as a plain Jane. To the supposed heroine of the story, who is completely nondescript.
The dialogue is wooden, the kills are boring, there is no genuine fear or tension throughout the whole movie. The soundtrack tries to capture the essence of 80s slasher movies but actually ends up being irritating.
The killers outfit is dreadful, it doesn't induce fear just makes them look like an idiot. I'm not even sure why I'm giving this movie a 4.

I've watched all the fear street trilogy and that had better kills and better characters and better villains... this was super rushed and the kills were so boring and the trailer gave away who the killer was so this was disappointing! Could have made it more darker and bloody and put more time in this movie and made it more like prom night (1980) this was not scary at all and nothing was interesting. My favorite character was Megan because she was an interesting character but everyone else was just trash. It was rushed and there should have been a plot twist because the trailer showed to much of the scenes and should have teased us more.
Set in the 80s, Fear Street: Prom Queen doesn't live up to its predecessors in the trilogy (even though it's barely related to the original Fear Street franchise, with a few goofs regarding the '78 camp massacre).
Lori Granger, an outsider at a school full of 'It' Girls, runs for the prom queen title and the bloodfest begins. Sadly, the movie didn't live up to many people's expectations, like the other Fear Street movies did. The acting wasn't quite promising and the script felt more like the plot is set in the modern era and not the 80s. It's very predictable, and if you're having your doubts about who the killer is during the beginning, you're probably right.
During the first few minutes of the movie, we are already introduced to nearly all the characters, making it easily forgettable. However, the killings were done perfectly and that's what saved the movie. If you're bored on a rainy weekend or just looking for some casual movies to watch with your friends, Fear Street: Prom Queen might just be the right choice.

This movie is getting way too much hate, despite how good it is. It's not perfect, but it is very good. Firstly, the kills are gruesome. Very gory and bloody but not disgustingly violent. The acting is very good and the performances convey how desirable the title of "Prom Queen" is to them. It's rare I point out a soundtrack in a movie, but the soundtrack was really good in this one. Plenty of good 80s tunes blasting through the house as you watch this movie. This movie also tries its best to feel like a movie set in 1988. I think it definitely succeeded in that department. In typical R. L. Stine fashion, the twist was very good. The whole movie I was trying to guess who the murderer was and never figured it out. Overall, this movie is a great tribute to classic 80s slasher movies and is definitely not deserving of all the hate it is receiving.
