Waack Girls

We had a wonderful time watching Waack Girls. There was so much energy, humor and genuine human feeling -- we were completely entertained.

Right from the start, we cared deeply about EVERY character. Even the smaller roles -- like the young girl who takes care of Grandpa -- are so carefully developed that we felt a connection with them.

One reason the characters seem so real: they behave beautifully one minute -- and make big mistakes the next minute. They also have unexplained details in their lives, which kept us wondering. So when those details are revealed in later episodes, it's very powerful.

One other surprise: seeing the many similarities -- and the extreme differences -- between modern life in India and our own world. The way the Waack Girls go in and out of English and Indian languages is fun to hear. Plus, the images of urban India are so vivid and beautiful, it's like taking a voyage away from our own world.

That's one of the reasons why we're eager to watch season 2. We want to go back to life with the Waack Girls!

This is indeed a revolutionary series that delivers strong messages in a subtle, delightful manner. It has layers of truths, some that emerge through pathos and also through the tickling, zany moments ! The characters are all so real and developed sensitively. Both Ishani and Lopa are awesome. Dadu is so delightful. The dancers are all magnificent! Loved that it featured the iconic Kolkata races and the authenticity of the city. This world class series empowers as it touchingly addresses diverse societal double standards. The end was a bit ambiguous ... perhaps allowing for a follow up series?

So great and different from all the nonsensical content coming out. What an enjoyable and refreshing watch! Loved it and cannot wait for season 2!

The cinematography, direction and dancing were incredible. The dancers are not just technically skilled but also incredibly expressive, making every routine a powerful statement. The show balances fierce competition with personal storytelling, allowing viewers to connect with the artists beyond their performances. The production quality is top-notch, with vibrant cinematography that truly enhances the visual spectacle of waacking.

The Waack Girls are simply amazing! Watching them perform is an absolute treat-they're full of energy, creativity, and pure passion for dance. Their moves aren't just technically perfect; they tell a story that pulls you in and keeps you hooked till the very end.

What really stands out is how beautifully they express emotions through their dance. You can feel the dedication and hard work in every step they take. The way they move together, so perfectly in sync, shows the bond and chemistry they share as a group.

Whether you're into waacking or just love watching great performances, these girls will blow you away. They're inspiring, stylish, and completely unforgettable. I'd recommend them to anyone looking for a performance that truly stands out.

I deeply appreciate this series for its genuine respect for dance as an art form. If you're a fan of compelling drama or captivating dance, and especially if you enjoyed Taraporevala's last film, Yeh Ballet, you'll definitely love this series too.

Mekhola Bose-the lead actress and an accomplished professional Waack dancer-absolutely shines in her role as Ishani, the heroine. Having performed internationally for over a decade, Mekhola previously appeared in "Yeh Ballet" in a supporting role. But in "Waack Girls", she truly takes center stage. Casting a trained dancer like Mekhola, rather than an actor who can dance, gives the character an added layer of authenticity.

Her stage presence is magnetic-she commands the dance floor with both power and grace. Yet, it's her moments of vulnerability and her radiant smile that truly steal the show.
