Namibia no sabaku

I really want to give it a 8, even a 9, but it kinda flopped at the end of the story. For starters, I really do enjoy this movie, at least for the most part of it. Everything is on point, the camera movement, acting even the music. It's very poetic. This film reminds me Millennium Mambo and The Worst Person In The World. They all are about young ladies exploring themselves. In this film, it infused the confusion and the disconnection related to gen-z into a girl oriented movie. As a gen-z, I can definitely understand how the main actress feel and think. In order to do that the script and the acting skill must be pretty awesome in. Unfortunately, I would have to give last 20 minutes of the film a big L. I couldn't understand wtf is going on. To me, the common point of great movies is definitely good portray of character arc. But as far as the last part of this film, it is too abstract for me to understand. I didn't have a chance to understand how the character's mind has changed after been through that much. It is truly unfortunate, since this film is mainly about a young girl's story.

I'm not a big fan of Hollywood movies where the "good" guy kills a dozen of "bad" guys and eventually wins the day. So, I expected a slow, thought-provoking foreign movie. Alas, there was nothing interesting in the life of a mentally challenged young lady. I tried hard to find some interesting point but it was a waste of more than two hours.
