Good Boy

If you're a fan of action-packed series with a dash of comedy and a powerful villain, this one ticks many boxes. The cast delivers solid performances, and the chemistry between characters keeps you engaged. However, the biggest letdown is the pacing - what could've wrapped up neatly in 10 or 11 episodes was unnecessarily stretched to 16, making the middle episodes feel a bit dragged.

Despite that, the action sequences were top-notch, and the villain absolutely stole the show with a gripping presence that left a lasting impact. The series balances comedy and intensity well, and while it's not perfect, it's still a fun watch if you have the patience.

Good Boy presents a gritty, emotionally charged tale where Olympic medalists join a special police task force to fight crime. Through 16 episodes, the story unravels Yoon Dong-ju's journey from gold-medal boxer to justice-seeking officer, blending social commentary, trauma, and redemption. The pacing stumbles occasionally, but the layered narrative and emotional flashbacks elevate the storytelling.

The series shines in its genre-blending ambition, merging high-octane action with heartfelt introspection. Choreographed fight scenes, urban noir visuals, and a haunting soundtrack create an immersive world. Themes of brotherhood, corruption, and sacrifice are deftly handled, making the emotional stakes real and affecting.

Acting across the board is stellar. Kim So-hyun blends strength with raw emotion. Oh Jung-se delivers menace with chilling precision, while Lee Sang-yi adds comic charm and heart. Heo Sung-tae's calm authority anchors the team. Each actor enriches the story with nuanced performances, making their characters memorable and their struggles relatable.

Topping this strong ensemble is Park Bo-gum, whose performance becomes the emotional core of the series. In Good Boy, he's visceral, volatile, and haunted; strikingly different from his gentle, hopeful character in When Life Gives You Tangerines. This duality proves his incredible range, pivoting from serene charm to stormy intensity with ease.

A compelling mix of action and emotion, Good Boy is a 2025 K-drama standout. Its unique premise, powerful performances, and emotional weight make it a must-watch. Prime Video has a winner on its hands.

After watching the first four episodes, the versatility that Park Bo Gum has portrayed in his acting is exemplary. I am in awe to see him in this action-packed role in Good Boy with his hardened gaze, unlike the ones filled with his doe-like, love-filled eyes. No doubt he is the prince of romantic dramas, but his performance in this action series is a brilliant display of his talent. The stark contrast that his character, Yoon Dong Ju, conveyed while punching the hell out of the bad guys and the way he is totally whipped for Ji Han Na, is one of the many Maeryok (charming) points of Park Bo Gum in this series.

The variety and growth he has shown in his recent drama picks like When Life gives you tangerines and Good Boy, have filled my heart with immense satisfaction and pride. I remember in Record of Youth, one of his previous dramas, particularly at the ending of episode 4, a scene of him as a villain and beating up the guys. I was amazed to see the change in his expression (from all smiles to badass villain) and the way he handled that scene was flawless and very impactful. I wanted to see him more in such a character (something intense and fierce). This series actually fulfills it and even exceeds it. I hope the story line remains as strong as it is now. I loved the other characters too. However, this review is only for Park Bo Gum. Couldn't resist writing it!

It was the best series i had watch also i keep on repeating it before the new episode were posted it was great. Kim so hyun and park bo gum was a nice love team. They make the series more interesting. I just can't get enough watching it. The flow of this story is very interesting. There's no boring episode in here. It's fun and entertaining. If i have given the chance to erase my memory about this series I'll do it just to watch it again and again. Kim so hyun and park bo gum has the best chemistry. Even way back 2018 they have the best chemistry on hosting. It was great seeing them together in this drama.

I like the drama of Kimsohyun from 2021 when I was only 17 years old. Just watched School 2015 and fell in love with her from that time... Now, She is doing Ji Han-Na role and I loving it... Because it is the first time where she is portraying Action Hero + Romance Lead lady... It is amazing... Can't believe she is only 26 years old. 😢... Her others Notable work like: 1.
