Close to Me

This is certainly one of the best Italian thrillers of recent years, it is a very well written film, with a plot that at first seems harmless, banal, almost obvious, but which instead becomes more and more captivating and surprising, until reaching the final moment, a well-studied twist that you cannot fail to appreciate.

The general cinematographic level is certainly remarkable, good direction, appreciable photography and all the details referring to the period of domestic segregation due to the pandemic in Italy. The vision is never boring, although it is certainly not an action thriller, but rather a slow representation of the facts (as slow as that sad period was for all of us....), the scenes were constructed very well and, above all, the level of acting is very high, we have, among others, Riccardo Scamarcio, now become very good in all the roles assigned, Maria Chiara Giannetta, known to the general Italian public for many years for some successful fiction, and then... this beautiful actress originally from Cuba, Mariela Garriga, a practically perfect choice for the role played in this drama: I challenge you to prove me wrong after you have seen the film!!!

"Muori per lei" offers an intriguing plot that keeps you engaged until the very end, thanks to several twists, one of which is truly unexpected. The story unfolds with a steady rhythm, never losing momentum.

I have to admit, Scamarcio delivers a surprisingly solid performance in his role, fitting the character well.

The film is packed with quotes some feel a bit cliché, while others hit with real insight. Unfortunately, it always feels more like a TV movie than a true cinematic experience.

It lacks that extra spark or visual depth that would elevate it to something greater.

The setting brings back the atmosphere of the COVID lockdowns, which now feel like a thousand years ago.
