Lord of the ... Part 2
No pun intended - there will be at least another one of these! The question you are probably most curious about: do you have to have seen the first one? I would say you do not have to - but you will have a way broader picture if you have.
There are surviving characters (some barely) that made it into this movie. Will they survive another run? Well you'll have to watch to see. What is important: you have to like fantasy movies ... and also overplayed drama ... and a bit of kitsch of course.
There is some predictability, especially when it comes to the romance part of it all (this is a sort of bonus compared to the first one - or maybe not, depending on your stance on it - the new female lead is strong, tough and beautiful for sure) ... but there are enough surprises and twists to keep you guessing and interested.
Now there have been a lot of movies that have mid and post credit scenes - I cannot remember any of them (outside of this let's say franchise) to point them out ... what do I mean? When the credits start ... you'll have a written guarantee that there will be scenes during the credits ... not just that! But also the amount: 3! And yet still some people stood up and left after the first additional scene ... people will never learn will they? That was rhetorical.
Now about the not learning you could say the same thing about those being easily swindled and made to do things ... that would go against their morale code. Fantasy and some decent CGI effects - not perfect ones, round this all up. Good fight scenes ..

The lord, the king and I-I
Destiny, China, 10th century BC: the power is in your hands, Lord of the Rings, lol! Magic, magic, these ladies in elegant traditional dresses flying through the air with swords while practicing the martial arts of Tai Chi Chuan-isn't that poetic? As an aside, it's the grand story of a fierce, captivating, and exciting transfer of power at the heart of ancient civilization.
Composed of creatures, monsters, animals, beasts, all fantastical, including the three-headed one, the reanimated, princely heir slayer, returning undead, it is sadness, hatred, anger, betrayal, injustice, it is indeed the will of heaven to act "Tian-Yi - Amituofo" to guide the friendly, benevolent path already laid out, the ninja of manga had better be on high alert in the face of the fabulous white wave vapor.
An enchanting female fox demon is possessive; the spirit of the dead lady breathed her last, returning from her fantasies, incantations of supernatural insects, living organic eaters of royal soldiers towards limbo, even cruelty in the rotten kingdom of the finished Yin Shou dynasty, but it is written in history! Eagerly awaiting the odd-numbered sequel.
The final of the league of ancient Chinese "cuju" champions, go go Lord Ji Fa's shock team, the future of the rings III masterpiece on masterpieces, creation of the gods 2: demon force, yes in on.

This writer and director shouldn't be hired ever again
It baffles me how the writer and director managed to make a movie this bad with such a big budget.
If you're paid a ton of money to direct a movie, at least make something passable.
I liked the first movie, but this one... My wannable youtuber friend would've made a more coherent movie.
Plot, pacing, character behavior, all trash. The CGI, even though it's not that good, is the least of my complaint.

Creation of the Gods 2 delivers a visually stunning and ambitious continuation of its epic saga, blending ancient Chinese mythology with modern cinematic flair. For fans of grand storytelling and immersive world-building, this sequel offers a compelling mix of action, drama, and artistry that makes it a standout in the fantasy genre.
What Works:
Breathtaking Visuals: The film's production design and CGI are a feast for the eyes. From towering celestial palaces to intricately choreographed battle sequences, every frame feels meticulously crafted. The mythical creatures and godly realms are rendered with vivid detail, making it a must-watch on the big screen.
Expansive Storytelling: The narrative dives deeper into the conflicts between mortals, immortals, and demons, weaving together themes of power, loyalty, and destiny. While familiarity with the first film helps, the sequel does enough to engage newcomers with its dramatic tension and character dynamics.
Strong Performances: The cast, led by seasoned actors and rising stars, brings emotional weight to their roles. Standout moments include nuanced portrayals of moral dilemmas and alliances, adding depth to the larger-than-life plot.
Pacing and Scale: The film tightens its pacing, balancing quieter character moments with adrenaline-fueled set pieces. The final act, in particular, builds to a crescendo that leaves audiences eager for the trilogy's conclusion.
Not as good as the first one, but definitely worth watching!

- WissenswertesThe trilogy is Loosely based on the classical fantasy novel "Investiture of the Gods" (Fengshen Yanyi) by Zhonglin Xu and Xixing Lu, which is one of the only two mythical epics in Chinese literature history that originated from real historical events, and was greatly enriched and fabricated with vast imagination and fiction, when it was passed down the generations by storytellers over the last two thousand years, and finally became a classic. All materials came from local Chinese history and culture. It is arguably the No.1 mythical fiction of China.
