The popular Turkish horror film series Uc Harfliler has hit theaters with its new installment, Uc Harfliler: Fal.
This was my first time experiencing director Mert Uzunmehmet's work, even though his films have been around for four years. As a horror movie fanatic, I went into this film with some skepticism. I generally enjoy Alper Mestci's productions, but after watching this movie, I don't even feel like rating other recent horror films...
I sincerely congratulate the director! The cinematographer, art director, lighting crew, sound engineers, composers, and everyone involved deserve recognition. The way they built up the story and gradually guided the audience was fantastic. Seeing such high-quality productions is truly exciting, and it's great to see companies like TME Films and Muhtesem Film supporting such projects.
The screenplay, in my opinion, wasn't perfect. It could have had more depth. Compared to previous films I've watched, I was expecting a deeper narrative. However, one important point to consider is that if this film is truly based on the real story of Falci Muzeyyen, then the simplicity of the script makes perfect sense. It avoids exaggeration and unfolds smoothly without exhausting the viewer. So, I wouldn't call it "cliché." It's open to interpretation...
But let's put that aside-this film was so good that I didn't even care about the screenplay! Honestly, I was excited to write this review throughout the entire movie.
Artistically, it was breathtaking... The cinematography and aesthetics took center stage, and you could tell the crew worked with great dedication.
The jumpscare timing was spot on in my opinion. The dialogues, acting, and music flowed effortlessly.
Seeing such films being made in our industry makes me genuinely happy. Kudos to everyone involved!
I discovered Mert Uzunmehmet through this movie, and I believe he deserves more opportunities. I can't comment on his previous works, but based on this film alone, he has done an incredible job. Huge respect to the entire crew! Definitely the best horror movie in recent times!
