My honest reaction to Neang Neath with ah kibanh Vong scene.

First of all, I'll talk about the comedy here because it's the main flavor of this film. The jokes are a lot more than before, and some are actually funny for us, every joke is connected. The genre should be comedy/action or adventure, I think, because it has no more romance in this part and they did an absolutely job in the action sequence.

Speaking of choreography, man, this is what I wanted in the previous part. I don't know how to break down the fighting sequence, but like 90% of the choreography is good, especially the protagonist's fighting scene, I don't care about the background character action sequence, they're not fighting well, but it's fine, the important thing is the protagonist and antagonist. This time they give us long enough to see their choreography in the climax scene before they end the story.

I see a lot of wide shots here, more than usual, every shot has good composition, camera moment, and blocking, just like the last part. They also did a good job of faking the moon at Neath's house. The beautiful shots at dawn just give me Ninja vibes, and the texture shots of their journey to the west combined with the diegetic song tell us the story of their commitment to face the unknown part.

Well, the diegetic song is great. Thank you for making it happen. I feel like I just listened to Den Dey Sovan Phum. One more part, the part where Dav thinking about Neath and his friend start singing, it works well, but when another one stands up and sings the difference song, it ruins the precious moments.

It's similar to the dialogue, but "My Dialogue" here's not about the simple conversation or tone between characters, I think it's simple to do that, but I focus on the dialogue script. I love when the character says something and another character replies with similar sounds, like Chun P'tun & Rondom. For example, there's a part where the seller said like "Kmean Dav na somlab bandit ban te" and then the reply is, "Dav na min dg tae Dav nis somlab ban" and "Tver songkream kmean Yut sas" And there are a lot of deep meaning words in this story that the writer is trying to tell, it's reflected to us and our society as well. If you focus on every word that comes from their mouth, you'll notice that even the funny script also has hidden meaning.

By mention of the reflection of our society, there's a part where the villagers are going to bully Neang Neath without knowing anything. Well, they just know their sons are dead, and they just go attack her without any evidence. After that, Neang Neath tells them, and they agree because they haven't seen the bodies yet, so they go back, but then they attack her again after seeing the bodies without seeing the sign or critical thinking. This part just reflects about the society, people are so fking dumb, they got brain but never use.

Almost forgot about the development, the most important thing. The story is meaningless if there's no character development. We don't see so much character development here, but I'll just talk about main character development. Neang Neath, after marriage we see that she's just an ordinary human, no hate, no enemies, just a girl who minding her own business, but with her development while her husband isn't here, she's been going through the unforgivable thing that people did to her, and now we can see the reason why she became a scary ahh ghost, which is haunting everyone in the villagers due to their actions that let her fall apart. On another side, Dav's development. He's just a useless person, just like his father said in the flashback, and he couldn't protect his village, can't even keep his words. But now he becomes just like his father after going through those sufferings, he knows great strategies on the battlefield, knows how to assassinate, knows how to hide, knows how to trap, and the most impressive thing is that he knows how to manipulate the enemies.

The special effects are way better than visual effects, they burn down the entire place. The scene where the protagonist stands watching the house on fire is +1000aura, but it's a little goofy ahh. Lol

I'll just talk about the story after this because the visual is similar to the previous one. But before we get into it, I just let you know that, this talk is about my perspective. I don't know if it is absolutely right to the writer or not, so let me know if I say it wrong.

The opening scene is starting from the scenes where everyone is crying for their lost and our protagonist is flashing back about his father's monologue, and then we see the recap of the story of Part 1. I don't mind about it, but there's no need to recaps because I'd prefer to watch the entire story of Part 1 again than the recaps in Part 2. If we put the recap on the screen, the less screentime, the better. I think Dav's flashback is enough to remind the audience of the last part, but that's okay.

The script is well written, I gotta say that. We know the story is just a straight line due to the spoiler in the trailer, which's Dav avenges his father and villagers, but they also twist us a little bit confused, the part where they said Dav is dead. We all know that Dav is 100% alive, but we just want to know how? And who sent the message? And then they give us a good solution to explain what they're planning to do. It's a good way to trick the bandit and the audience but also the dumbest way to message his wife that he's still alive.

The complications of the story are make sense, what's the problem while they're traveling, how a character makes a mistake that lets down the entire crew, and how the bandit awakes. There's only one person to blame about it, they created only one troublemaker to make all of those problem and then they solved the problem easily and that troublemaker is no more.

One story that nobody noticed, but I did. I love the side story of White Scarf how they managed its story. So, we see Neang Neath gives it to Dav, and it stays with Dav for a few days, then Dav splits it into 2 pieces and gives 1 to Neang Neath delivered by the dead bodies, and another one he keeps for himself. Then, when he fights with the bandit, he ties the scarf around the wound while Neang Neath is struggling to pull the scarf at the same time. When they both connected to the scarf, Neang Neath was successful in giving birth, and Dav was successful in defeating the bandit. It'll be fire if they make a short film in this scarf's perspective. I imagine the peak already

At the end of the scenes, we see that Neang Neath is now insane. The Bompe Kon is so good . It's the best definition of "Old but Gold" I hope they make a good horror film with this, because it really gives me high expectations after seeing her as a ghost already

    The Negative Part.

It's about the comedy again. Like I mentioned before, too much joke will ruin itself. It's a comedy film, not a comedy stage, so please don't be overjoke. Some jokes are funny, but they add another joke into it that makes it ruin the moment or awkward. Example: like the singing part, we were enjoying the fun, and then another character stood up and added more jokes, it just makes me cringe. A few of the jokes don't make sense (the audience can understand the joke, but the joke isn't supposed to be there, such as "buy one, get one" or "cute commander"...)

The worst part is the color grade, the color grade ruined the entire film look. You know? The shots are perfect, like the wide shots, and the other cinematography scene is supposed to be beautiful, but the color grade makes it look awful, it's too dark and lost a lot of details in the shots, and I see that one scene is Bek color mg hah, I bet you see it too, please don't think it's okay, a little thing combined together can destroy your film easily.

The dialogue is so awkward, I do understand about Pheasa Kon ng Pheasa Krean but please at least make it feel less awkward. For example "Puk yg tang os knea or Puk Neak tang os knea" change to "Tang os knea".

Last time I didn't notice about the sound effects, but this time my reaction is WTF. The Hawk sound is too random, it doesn't match each other, I feel like they just downloaded mp3 and imported it into Capcut. One more thing, the background character, it's so weird, the part where the mother wishes her son, the sound is stuck at the same place, like normally, you hear it from the left, right, front, and behind, but this one is stuck at the back, I didn't hear it clearly, and it's so annoying. See? This is the small things you made now it becomes a big problem, some people take it as negative, some just ignore it but the problem is still the problem.

The visual effects are low level, the choreography is good but the blood ruined it, VFX or SFX here I don't care, but it doesn't look real at all, especially the part that Dav kab kbal hz dul ho cheam if it looks more real, you got another benefit from it but now it's just a waste of potential.

Here again with the problem at the ending scene. I don't hate this ending, but I'm wondering WHAT HAPPENING? I don't know clearly if the author wrote it for us to make a theory or if they just had skill issues and a lack of storytelling. If it made for a theory, I'd love to talk about it, like I said, I love films with theories. But whatever, just tell us what happened. Is it a power of true love or what? Why he can break the Sbek Kung? What special about it?

Thing I hate the most in the story is the r*pe scene, I know it's for development but I really don't like it, plus it should be a scene where I see that mfk die dreadfully, but if they show us in this part it isn't a good idea at all. There's no worthy sacrifice in this film.

Btw, I wanna see more of b Sorn Piseth's work in LD😭🙏 Please don't waste this great actor.
