Ignore the morbies and nay-sayers and give this a watch. It's hilarious. My (male) partner thinks so, too. The ladies are *not* hysterical, as per other reviewers. The show talks straight about real issues in women's lives but it's also very, very funny. We just wandered into it by chance and ended up binging quite a few episodes, laughing all the way.
It is well-executed. The show is not just about menopause - although why would that be a bad thing? If it makes you want to vote for the Tories, you're taking yourself way too seriously. And why is everyone so hard on the Ceeb? The Ceeb does great work.
I like that the characters are fallible, vulnerable, fully-rounded, and look and sound like real people. No one is a caricature. The humour is apposite, the narrative is engaging, the characters are sympathetic. It's nice to see a show that deals with the realities of women's lives without sinking into sentimentality or cynicism - it's just, refreshingly, right.

I don't know what it is with Meredith MacNeill,
She literally makes me cringe with embarrassment, she's over the top, and I freaking love her! Paired with Jennifer Whalen, the two put on a great show. As a 53 yr old woman, this show touches personal and intimate issues all women face. Periods's, menopause, human connection. Parenting older children, how hard it is to find good friends when you are older, and seeing friendship in people that you would never imagine sharing life with. Until you do, then you wonder where they've been all your life! It is funny, touching, and brings up all the emotions. . I hope theees a season 2.
The show undeniably sheds light on crucial societal issues, particularly the persistent mistreatment of women; for example, it exposes the harsh reality of how capable, deserving women are routinely overlooked for promotions in favor of unqualified men. It also highlights other glaring injustices imposed on girls and women that remain largely unchanged despite over a century of so-called progress since women gained the right to vote. However, the exaggerated nature of the characters makes them difficult to watch, as they reinforce the damaging and outdated stereotype of women as "hysterical." Given the current political climate, where the devaluation of women and the erosion of their rights are alarmingly on the rise, I worry that the show's message is too subtle. Instead of empowering women and educating society on the difficult realities they face, it risks reinforcing the very oppression it seeks to challenge.
It's a comedy, meant to entertain. Comedy often portrays exaggerated characteristics. I loved how the characters voiced things publicly that many of us feel as we age but do not say to anybody except other women who can relate. This shame has been thrust upon us by a society that historically and currently would rather only celebrate youth and beauty. It allows us to be seen while aging and while working. It covers several important subjects (aging, women's health, sexism) in a lighthearted and relatable way and let's women be seen as they age but tackles the subject in a very funny way, almost farcical. I think the other two reviews I read missed this. This show is for women and about women, period. We get the message. I am looking forward to more. I really enjoyed the first episode.
As someone who has started the perimenopausal journey, I was excited to see this show - but instead of feeling liberated at openly discussing the trials and tribulations of menopause, all I found myself watching was the flogging of a dead horse of terrible jokes. I couldnt get through the first episode. But I tried again with the second, because I wanted to like it. Couldnt get through that either.
I honestly dont understand how anyone could possibly find this funny. Do people actually find this funny? Do people consider this feminism? These jokes are not liberating, or even clever - they are stupid.
