Despite having the same writing and directing combo and cast, this movie is a flanderized version of the first. While the first one was quite enjoyable, this sequel is a lifeless retread of all the same material. Here's another sentence so I can reach the minimum character count to submit the review.
As usual, several of those involved in this production have done their best to lift this film to the skies, but this movie doesn't deserve a single star.
Predictable from the very beginning how everything will end. A villain who is more comical than threatening. I found myself sitting there laughing at the acting in this movie. Especially the lousy acting from Mark Wahlberg himself, and from the villain in all of this.
The kids are all so bad, I despise them all. There is no comedy in this movie. The action scenes is more on the boring side.
This is just so bad on every level. I would advise against wasting time on this movie.

Yes, she is my faithful Husky in the coal mine, much better than a canary. I was excited to see another episode of a funny move well done, only to realize that story/script was acutely anemic. I would normally be very disappointed but it is beginning to be commonplace to throw big dollars at a couple actors to get the draw, and then get a soft script.

The stage curtains open ...
Well, that was a disappointment. A sequel that didn't need to be made, unfortunately. Gone is the charm and good "feels" from the first film. Gone is a plausible story. Gone was the acting. Unfunny, mundane action, and to be honest, just a waste of time This one was a real stinker.
The Morgan family have seemingly moved on unscathed from their encounter with Dan's past life and things have returned back to normal. Their daughter is living abroad in London, their oldest son getting ready for college, and their youngest getting bigger every day. Dan is now a security specialist and consultant, having ditched his car salesman job for greener pastures. When news of Dan's father's passing while incarcerated comes out, so does another part of Dan's past that he wasn't even aware of. A half-brother who is hellbent on a revenge that is all his own. Once again, the Morgan's must come together or be destroyed.
I went into this one fresh from having re-watched the 1st movie (which I loved), and it started out with good promise. But once things start to get hectic again, and it's do or die as a family, it loses traction very fast and never regains its footing or momentum. The cast was uninterested and tired, especially Mark Wahlberg, who just didn't seem invested at all in the project. It was wearing thin very noticeably early on and could not recover. There was no focus, no continuity.
By rule, most sequels never really measure up to the original film, but this one drops the ball so badly all I could do was roll my eyes and shake my head. The story itself was weak and poorly written with dialogue so cookie cutter and average, that nothing could save it. I truly hope they don't make a 3rd film and try to make this a franchise. Even if they do, I doubt I would watch it anyway. Definitely not a recommend, not by any stretch of the imagination. I just hope this one hasn't tainted my viewpoint of the first one.

This movie from the off is absolutely horrendous and i actually paused it with twenty to thirty minutes to go just to come and see the IMDB rating and reviews and was not disappointed that I am not the only one that has given it a one star. The first movie was pretty good but this one is just so slow and boring but what's even worse is they cast a kid who looks more going into his teen years as the youngest member of the Morgan family and meant to actually be a four year old. I can't recommend this tripe and doubt i'll even go back to watch the remaining twenty to thirty minutes it's that bad. Shame because i like Mark Wahlberg but this is utter garbage.

"The Family Plan 2" tries to expand on the success of its predecessor, but in doing so, it abandons most of what made the first film so charming. What was once a playful mix of comedy and light action becomes a more serious, straightforward action movie - and unfortunately, that shift strips away the heart and fun that defined the original.
The biggest issue is how redundant the film feels. Instead of offering new ideas, fresh character moments, or a clever twist on the formula, it reuses familiar beats without adding anything of value. The humor - the core ingredient that made the first movie stand out - is almost absent. In its place is a tone that's noticeably heavier, but not in a compelling way.
As a more serious action film, it struggles. The action sequences are competent but uninspired, and the story never rises beyond mediocrity. Without the comedic personality of the first movie, the characters feel flatter, their interactions less lively, and the overall experience far more forgettable.
It's a shame, because the potential was there. The first film showed how lighthearted fun and simple storytelling could blend into something genuinely enjoyable. But "The Family Plan 2" trades that identity for something blander, and the result is a sequel that feels unnecessary and strangely hollow.
Not terrible - just painfully average, and a letdown compared to the movie that came before it.

This is an age where we expect a crime or thriller to be at least forty percent realistic. This is not even five percent there. The bank stuff was bad and totally unrealistic. The Paris car chase was the worst you could see. And everything from there on was just downhill. I don't know why they are even making more stuff like this.

I actually liked the original a lot, so was excited to see this come out. Unfortunately, this is not nearly as well done or entertaining.
There's much less action in general, and the comedy bounces between lazy and old tropes from the first movie.
The writing/story is pretty lazy as well. Too many conveniences to pop them out of impossibly written situations. Same with acting. Not sure if he's just getting older, but Wahlberg seemed particularly uninterested the entire movie, a big departure from the first.
All of that out of the way, it's still an extremely watchable movie. Throw it on when you're ready to turn your brain off and veg out for a while.

Watched about 7 minutes of this debacle. Corny as hell. The introductory scene is Dwayne Johnson corny. Stop insulting the intelligence of the American people and make a movie that doesn't replicate other terrible movies. Marky Mark should be ashamed of himself. This guy was in The Departed. A classic film now he's in a ponderous, corny film. Apple plus, get with the program. You're supposed to be a step up from the other brainless streaming services. Or maybe you're not.

I wasn't expecting this movie to be theater. I was expecting it to be a good movie to watch as a family. The first part of this is fine, but it goes downhill quick and they do it in several ways. First, the premise behind the bad guy is dumb. Second, you get a teenager who games all of the time that is able to hack a highly-secured system from the streets of France. He is hacking a computer, a server or the dreaded misused term, 'mainframe'. You don't know because they use all three terms, but somehow the super teenage gamer knows how to hack them all. No global villain is going to have a damn mainframe. Then, there is the parkour boyfriend. Somehow he does all of this fancy parkour to help Mark Wahlberg's out across the rooftops of Paris. However, Wahlberg is with him stride for stride without any parkour. And don't get me started with the whole Greenpeace mention. The final ending? Dumb, dumb and dumb. This entire motive behind this movie from Amazon must have been, "We need something with some action. Don't waste your time on writing, character building or anything." Again, garbage.

Absolute cliché in every moment, boring even skipping fully predictable scenes, conversations. 3 star only goes to the professional craftsmen who worked well for their salary. I could feel even on the actors asking the Director: "usual character, nothing special, or twist? OK, too easy... here you are."

"The Family Plan 2" demonstrates how commercial success can lead to the continuation of works that are creatively and structurally hollow. The film leans heavily on worn-out clichés and illogical narrative triggers, and its action sequences reveal their weak execution rather than generating any real tension. The exploitative use of European settings, the lack of meaningful character development, and the overall directorial inconsistency reduce the film to a product made purely for quick consumption-an insignificant experience that offers no lasting appeal.
I'll admit Michelle is always gorgeous to watch but even that didn't rescue the film for me. I felt almost no real effort by anybody went into this film. It simply felt like chatGPT had come up with the story line.
The locations also seemed entirely arbitrary. As if the cast wanted to just get air miles. I fell asleep about 3/4 of the way through so it may of got better but everything up to that point seemed a bit pointless.

Shockingly bad. Languid, tedious, predictable sequel has zero entertainment value. An overpriced home movie (all expenses paid) for Mark Wahlberg and friends. Obviously this is just a pay check. Unintentionally dull, uninspiring by every metric. Action sequences so clunky you'd have to ask the director if they are blind and know how to read. Are the producers deaf and dumb? I think so.
A waste of time and a missed opportunity. Another example that Hollywood is over.

Sigh...I tried to be positive the entire time I was watching the movie, honest, but its just so bad! Why Mark? Why make a movie like this when you could've left the original to be alone in mediocrity? This movie is beyond turn your brain off - it lacks any sense of reality at all. I know, I know movies like this aren't supposed to have reality but come on! A highly trained assassin making so many dumb errors just hurts the premise of the movie. And the young kid actor - arghhh, nothing but annoying the entire movie. Find the kid a babysitter forwarding out loud! Ibfeel bad for the people in this movie and hope they save whatever they were paid because their resumes aren't going to be filled with much if relying on this.
Horr-aweful movie. Bad premise. Bad writing. Bad acting outside of experienced adults. Bad effects and I'm bad for not making better use of my time while it was on. I should've folded laundry or meal prepped...lost time now.

Uninspired HS level directing screenplay acting
much like this review.
I wonder if this was some uncle pulling favors for a nephew. But then how did they get this cast? And what was Mark thinking.
I guess it was shot in Paris so that is a plus.
Three stars because I don't know what one star would mean really.

Dumb plot, same one-dimensional Wahlberg character, and highly predictable. There's plenty in this movie that'll make most people mad that they've wasted their time watching such garbage. $50m to make this junk? Sounds like an excuse to travel to London and Paris to film. Could have been filmed in its entirety in Buffalo. Stay Away!

The Family Plan 2 (2025) is the sequel to The Family Plan (2023) and it follows Dan Morgan and his family going on vacation to Europe until his past comes back to haunt him again. I just got done watching this movie and it was good.
Positives for The Family Plan 2 (2025): It was great to be on another adventure with the Morgan Family as they are trying to go on vacation until they need to kick some ass. Mark Wahlberg, Michelle Monaghan, Zoe Colletti and Van Crosby are still great as the Morgan Family. The cast does a great job with the action and comedy. The movie has decent enough pacing to the story that is consistent. And finally, the movie is perfect to stream at home during the Christmas holiday season.
Negatives for The Family Plan 2 (2025): This is a movie that you have seen a million times before and done much better in other movies. The villains are hilariously generic and have no motivations for attacking the Morgans. The movie wastes Kit Harrington and if Jon Snow is wasted, then you have a problem. And finally, the movie is basically background noise for other activities.
Overall, The Family Plan 2 (2025) is a good time for the family to stream on Apple TV during the Christmas holiday season which is fine by me.

This sequel has all the charm of the original, in that it's not meant to be over complicated. It's got cool action sequences and the chemistry between the cast makes them a truly believable imperfect family.
It can get a bit slow at times but this movie wasn't made to win an Oscar, it was made so families could sit back and watch a funny action comedy together close to the holidays.
It's not the best or even original, I would just call it a fun watch.

This movie checks off every family spy movie cliche and trope . It doesn't even try. Cinematography is cheap; 2000s Disney Channel levels. The sound track is generic. Holiday fodder . I predicted almost every step/ beat of the first 20 minutes. Verbally, out loud said exactly what would happen. This movie unfortunately has been men several times over already and this iteration adds nothing new to the genre. Unfortunately, it's a lot of contrived situations to push the narrative along versus actual good writing and logical characterizations/ actions.

I cringed watching this movie; I just couldn't continue watching this drivel. Marky Mark should be held culpable. Wahlberg does have some acting chops, but he disgraced himself. He did this just for money. Very disappointed. I hope he chooses his new options more carefully. Do more independently. Get away from Hollywood.
