Sadly disappointing
I watched the Rescue Rangers as a kid and loved it. Fast forward well into adulthood and I have all the seasons and I still enjoy watching them when I decide to have a cartoon day. When I saw they were making a movie I was hesitantly optimistic.
But ultimately the movie didn't do anything for me. It just felt like a nostalgia cash grab. The only part I found mildly entertaining, and kept me watching, was seeing how many cameos I could spot in the background. But that doesn't make a good movie, it just made it feel even more like a cash grab with no substance.
But hey, at least it was better than the stuff Disney has been putting out lately. Not that the bar is very high...

Child hood memories
Omg so many an I mean so many, memories, cause of all the easter eggs. All the cartoon characters. Wow well done family movie, also explains why chip an dale's voice are different, great movie.
Suprisingly good
IT'S NOT A REBOOT. IT'S A COMEBACK.
Andy Samberg & John Mulaney's "Chip n' Dale" movie for Disney+ is a movie that i have been looking forward to for a very long time, and tonight a finally got a chance to see it.
Chip n' Dale" Rescue Rangers is a very entertaining and funny movie, it was better than i excpected it to be and i had a great amount of fun watching it. It's a visually stunning movie with a suprisingly good and well written story, filled with lots of great humour and meta jokes (Disney suprisingly much self distance here).
Chip n' Dale is also a movie filled with cameos and nostalgia from my whole childhood, and that makes this movie very rewatchable. And im happy to do it.

Wish they'd just have stuck to the original cartoon format...
This movie isn't bad if you're an 80's or 90's kid like me, who grew up watching Chip n' Dale: Rescue Rangers, Ducktales, and all that other good stuff, while it was airing on TV. It's chock full of cameos and references to the entire historical cartoon industry as a whole, not just Disney, so that's pretty awesome (I have no idea how they managed to cram so much of those in the movie, the legal team must have realy worked their asses off).
That said, I hate how Chip is his original cartoon self, while Dale is now CG, and looks...meh...I never liked how Disney switched from cartoons to animation back in the day to begin with. Their classic cartoons were amazing, while their new stuff doesn't come anywhere close. So, I wish they'd have just made the movie as a cartoon, but of course I didn't expect that. I do think they should have had Dale be his cartoon self as well though.
Most of all though, what really bothers me, is what they did to Chip and Dale's voices. I have no idea whose idea it was to completely change them (while leaving everyone else the same), but it' was a bad choice imo. Still, a good movie overall.

Impressive that it even exists
With all of the self aware jabs at some of the worst trends in Hollywood filmmaking as well as a ridiculous amount of characters from different studios crossing over, it's a miracle that Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers exists in the current filmmaking landscape.
What makes it even better is that it's a great film that's impressively paced, funny and pretty heartwarming. A love letter to animation by including as many different forms of it as possible, including the more disturbing ones.
John Mulaney cleverly chooses to play it almost completely straight which really helps him bounce off Andy Samberg's energy and adorable naivety. Rounding out the main three is Kiki Layne, who is just as likeable and energetic.
Akiva Schaffer's direction is excellent, the film is definitely different to his previous work but he adapts perfectly. The visual effects are consistently strong and the practical and CG blends together nicely overall.

- WissenswertesEarly in the film, Dale stars in his own show titled Double-0-Dale. In the early 90s, Disney was developing a show called Double-0-Duck. This idea was scrapped when it was discovered that the title "Double-0" is owned by the estate of Ian Fleming, author of the James Bond novels. Double-0-Duck was reworked and became Darkwing Duck.
- PatzerThe Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers cartoon did in fact air on TV in Albany on WXXA FOX 23.

Lost Boy: Peter, is that really you? You got old.
Sweet Pete: Yeah, death is coming for us all kid.
- Crazy CreditsSPOILER: There is a scene in the closing credits: a Rescue Rangers reunion panel takes place at a fan convention, while they are booed from across the hall by Darkwing Duck, who wants his own show. This is a possible reference to Disney Plus's plans for a Darkwing Duck reboot produced by Bob's player Seth Rogen.
