A Royal Montana Christmas

"A Royal Montana Christmas" ticks all the boxes you might expect from a Hallmark royal movie, but doesn't really rise to any great heights - it's nothing Hallmark hasn't done before and, frankly, done much better.

On the plus side, Fiona Gubelmann's chemistry with Warren Christie (whom I don't think I've seen in a movie before) is good.

Conversely, the negative: Gubelmann's accent. No matter that these small kingdoms are (more often than not) in Eastern Europe, all the royal inhabitants seem to have English accents. The one Gublemann affects in "A Royal Montana Christmas" has to be one of the most annoying ever.

I enjoy him, always have, and I like her.... But this movie? Hmmmm the fake accent is annoying, and takes away from the movie, making it hard to continue to watch. Storyline was ok, but needed more of a Christmas feel to it, wouldn't know it was Christmas time really... This movie is a bit disappointing, but most of the newer ones this time of year lack some luster, and get better as they get closer. Scale 1- 10???? I say a 5. I expected more from a Hallmark Christmas movie, which is why I have hallmark plus and have been watching Christmas movies since June. (probably cancelling due to the fact that we don't get to see the movies first.)

I like both main actors, but this is just a rehashed plot line. The fake accent is just horrible.

Come on Hallmark, come up with some new stories. The princess out of water plot is so over done.

And the red dress she wears at the holiday dance, wowzers, it didn't fit and was way too low cut. She looked like she was wearing a red nightgown. It was really bad. Is this "Hallmark at Night"?

First off, Gubelmann's fake "Zelarnian" accent was almost unbearable. Half the time she slipped out of the accent altogether, and when she was using the accent it was it was so clearly fake that it was distracting. However, I soldiered on. It was very cliche, very formulaic, but it did end up being kindof sweet.

This film got off to a slow start, and the female main character's accent was a bit hard to understand in the early parts. That improved.

The story itself is nothing new. Pretty cookie cutter for "people go to a ranch for Christmas and fall in love with the place"--and someone who lives there. However, I bumped up an extra couple of stars from what I originally intended because there was some clever dialogue here and there which brought me a chuckle.

But Hallmark, for goodness sakes, LOSE THE BEARDS! What woman who isn't a masochist wants to kiss a man with a beard that prickly! What man who isn't a sadist wants to inflict it on a woman's delicate skin!
