A Newport Christmas

I love Wes Brown and always look forward to any movie he is in but had a difficult time with this one! The lead actress takes away from the movie and there is NO chemistry between her and "Nick"! I am sure I will watch the movie again just to watch Wes Brown and my opinion may change but I doubt it will!

Yes, this is another time traveling Christmas movie, and it's pretty good mostly because there's enough Christmas theme, good cinematography and expensive looking sets, and nice performances by the leads to keep you interested. Ginna Claire Mason as Ella, the time traveller from 1905, is good once she gets over her hysteria, and Wes Brown as her savior is wonderful throughout. This is very different from the role he has in the "Haul Out" movies and you can see what a fine actor he is. The rest of the cast is quite good, particularly Talia Robinson and Evan Alexander Smith as the other couple who finds romance in this story.

However, this is not as good as the ultimate time traveling Christmas movie, "A Biltmore Christmas" which was perfection. And "A Timeless Christmas" had more charm, but this is still worth the watch because the plot is rather interesting and the cast works well together. If you want some holiday romance in the "Titanic" vein, this is the one for you.

I've watched many Hallmark movies over the past five years, and one thing I've learned is that ratings don't always reflect how personally meaningful a movie can be. This particular film stood out to me. Both main characters delivered strong performances-the male lead, whom I've seen in other roles, brought a refreshing and distinct energy to this character. I truly appreciated seeing this different side of his acting. The female lead was equally convincing and brought real heart to the story.

The time-travel element was handled thoughtfully, and the writing felt both creative and engaging. I recommend this movie to anyone who enjoys well-crafted fiction. Personally, I'd like to imagine that maybe, just maybe-it isn't fiction after all.

I haven't been watching as much Hallmark this year because, well, you know. I came across this one, and it looked ok.

I enjoyed it. Time travel is becoming a familiar trope in these movies, but this was a fun take.

Performances were good: Wes Brown being the stabilizing force to GCM's (I'm not typing that) excellent dramatic portrayal.

She's new to me, but she was really good.

I'm happy to see something I can recommend on Hallmark again.

Time travel movies are so much fun. I thought the actors were great and authentic. Costumes were beautiful! Story line was ok. The only thing that really turned me off was the obvious large proportion of green screen scenes. For me, it made the acting all the more inspiring- but the visual was so phony. So poorly done that as a viewer I'm thinking about the phony scenery and backgrounds (including interior shots) instead of the movie. How expensive could it possibly be for Hallmark to go film at a quant seaport somewhere and call it Rhode Island?
