It took 29 years after his death for us to have a movie about the King of Sinhala pop music.
Greatly appreciate the effort of the late Theja Iddamalgoda for bringing this movie to the silver screen. May his soul rest in peace.
Enjoyed it twice will be going for a third round sometime soon.
The acting and production are absolutely brilliant, and even the cars took us back to the era that introduced the electric guitar to sinhala music (so much so that it was hated and not allowed on the Sinhala service, but thanks to Dr. Vijaya Corea playing it on a show called Saturday Stars on the English service, it reached such a wide audience).
This just proves that haters have been around even then, and their offspring are condemning the movie even today.
All things said, hats off to Theja for choosing the cast, especially Nihari and Damith who starred in their first movie.
Excellent cinematography by Ruwan Costa, and to all involved in the movie, well done!
Best wishes as it travels across the globe. With 50+ days complete, let's aim for another 50 and beyond.

I watched Clarence: Rhythm of the Guitar yesterday, and I have to say-it truly left an impression on me. The music and song rearrangements are absolutely perfect. Every guitar note and rhythm felt alive, carrying the emotions of the story beautifully. It's one of those films where the soundtrack itself tells half the story, and it was executed with real mastery.
The acting is flawless-each performance felt genuine, drawing me deeper into the film. I could connect with the characters easily because of the strong and natural acting.
The storyline gave me a little doubt here and there, as it wasn't as strong or polished as the music and performances. But honestly, it didn't pull me away from the experience-the emotions and the overall journey made up for it.
Overall, this is a film that celebrates music, emotion, and passion, and it deserves recognition. For me, it's a full 10/10 because of how much it moved me through its sound and soul.
Highly recommended if you love music-driven stories! 🎶

Great movie to watch. Timeless music. Everyone did justice to their roles. Dinakshi and Saranga are superb acting and they show their emotions.
Suresh and Uresha's singing is commendable. Love to know who sang for Saranga?
Thank you Theja Iddamalgoda for this movie. He must be smiling from heaven. May theja's soul rest in peace.

Clarence: Rhythm of the Guitar tries to tell a simple love story but ends up feeling shallow and poorly put together. The plot is full of holes and it never really flows, making it hard to stay interested.
The male lead does a decent job, and the actor playing Monty stands out with a more natural performance. But most of the rest either act like they don't care or go way over the top, which ruins what could have been emotional moments.
The film's saving grace is its technical side. The camera work is well done, the locations are beautiful, and the music is easily the best part. That's no surprise, given it's built around the songs of the legendary Clarence Wijewardena.
A lot of people are handing out perfect scores either out of respect for Clarence or to hype up the film. Judged on its own, it's an average film with great music and visuals, but a weak story and uneven acting hold it back.

I grew up with these songs. Every moment of the movie was there to cherish. It was like a river that plow perfectly. Every second of the movie felt like heaven to me. Even the every character did great job. Storyline was so romantic and heartwarming. If you love clarnce;'s music then you must watch this film cuz this film is for people who loved him. Form how he begin and how they expand. Then how he went through different problems and finally how he get to marry sheela. And the fire between sheela and ramya. How fiannly they meet before sheela become part of the church. C'mon that was perfect. Everything felt just right. Loving the film so so much.
