Brenda Belthyn is phenomenal as Vera and she has produced more amazing episodes of this series than I'm sure even she thought she ever would. It's understandable that she is ready to retire. What I hope for is the producers of this show will realize that, the entire fan base (I believe) would immediately accept a new series with Joe in the lead and as many of the Vera actors who can be convinced to stay. They'd have a readymade hit without having to prove themselves. As long as the quality of the writing maintains the Vera standard, I would venture to say that "Ashworth" would be an immediate hit, something many shows couldn't accomplish. Think Morse and Inspector Lewis. I'd venture to say Inspector Hathaway would also be an immediate success. What a no-risk proposition.

This is a wonderful show. Emilia Fox is always good but the other cast members in this show are so watchable. Hopefully, they will get started with Season 3 soon. The setting is wonderful. The love interest between the two main characters is interesting and makes you want to see where it goes. The setting is beautiful and the guest stars are always good. It is so nice to have a show that skips the blood and guts but is still able to hold your attention. There is no place more beautiful than Italy and it's always a pleasure to see the scenery, which is also a star of the show. Hopefully, the producers of the show will pay attention to the built in audience the product more quality shows like the previous ones.

I am always looking for a new show that holds my attention and makes me want more when I'm up to date on my watching, and was delighted to find this show. So many times, I watch two or three episodes and I'm bored. That didn't happen with this show. The New Zealand landscape is breathtaking. The characters are well filled out. This show fits the bill. Spectacular cast and very good story line. Hopefully many more seasons to come. I think they have a winner here. Chelsie Preston Crayford was unknown to me, and she is really spectacular in this role. Matt Whelan is great as her partner. There's not a character on this show that was poorly cast. Thank you for this.
