OK. I love The Mandalorian. I also really enjoyed Boba Fett and Ashoka. All quite enjoyable and well done. I liked Skeleton Crew, which was a bit more light-hearted. The Acolyte... well, they can't all be winners (See Star Trek: Discovery, Picard and nearly half of Strange new Worlds. Hey, star trek, stop copying Star Wars and stop with the unnecessary prequels). All these series pale in the face of Andor. Tremendous writing, tremendous stories, fantastic cast. Diego Luna is brilliant as Andor, who really does everything he can for the Rebellion. Luthen and Kleya deserve at least a movie of their own. Andor is right when he tells the rebel council that they don't understand the debt they owe to Luthen, who, for the first time in any star wars we see PTSD. (Leia should really suffer from this as well, since she saw her planet blown up!) Each episode is a masterwork of writing and directing. There isn't a bad episode in the bunch. A joy to watch and my wife and I have watched the entire run several times. Just a brilliant show. More, Mr. Gilroy! More!
So Mr Trachtenberg is the savior of the predator universe? Hardly. While this isn't as horrible and full of plot holes as pray, nor as poorly done as that weak cartoon, predator and predator 2 are still tops. This weak story with a runt predator trying my to prove himself by being friends with a synthetic (who looks entirely too amused the entire movie) something no predator from 1 or 2 would do. Somewhere along the way the writers forgot that predators see the entire universe as prey not friends. Another weak entry in a fading franchise. There should be a 50 year moratorium on any further predator or alien movies.
If Hollystink can't do a decent adaptation of a science fiction novel (I'm look at you Dune and Dune 2), then they should simply stop. Starship Troopers, one of the greatest science fiction novels ever written, and one of the best by Robert A. Heinlein, gets a royal screwing here in this lame as can be 'adaptation'. Let's look at the GOOD: Really, other than the sfx, there isn't any good. Paul does a crap job as does Minor.
The BAD: Well, virtually everything. They left out the suits, which is why the army in the book is called THE MOBILE INFANTRY. The cast is too white, too young, too smiley and, in the case of quite photogenic but terrible actress Denise Richards-terrible. Paul missed the entire idea behind the novel; it isn't to promote the military or war, it's showing how one should earn certain rights, like voting, by service. Seeing some of the dunces elected in my nation, America (it's certainly not united) I can get behind that. But, I'm a veteran. The story is barely coherent, running from one big action scene to another (again the SFX are the best part), clipped together with every single military trope one can find. This is truly a horrible movie and the sequels - they're even worse!

The Ronin is the best character in Star Wars Visions and his episodes, the best. Beautiful artwork, excellent story telling, The character design is stunning. I love that it honored Star Wars by, at the beginning, panning down to begin the action. The various characters in this were tremendous. I enjoyed seeing that the Gamblers one soldier wore a partial Trooper helmet, the faceplate removed. The Twi'lek sith who combats Ronin was a spectacular design and I hope when they do another episode or hopefully, a movie, she'll be back as a partner or a foil. The Ronin and his adventures are my favorite episodes!
First, a disclaimer. I absolutely hate 99 percent of all remakes. They're an unnecessary attempt to outdo what, 99 percent of the time, remains a better film. There are a few I like; The Fly, The Blob, True Grit and 3:10 to Yuma to name a few. The rest, including this cinematic waste of time, The Day the Earth Stood Still and Spielberg's atrocious War of the Worlds, should be gathered up and dropped in hole in the earth, buried and forgotten. Failing that, shoot them all into the sun. How did they assemble this cast? Did these people need a tax write off? Any movie that is made TWO YEARS ago before it's finally released, should be a warning sign. Now, let's be honest. The original is a piece of crap. Poorly acted, barely adequate sfx, some breasts on view. But the people behind it seem to be having a great time. And, as bad as it is, it's still A)Better than anything the Asylum has ever thought of making, B)Fun as hell since every single bad guy or girl, gets their comeuppance. This terrible remake seems like someone in labor for two days. No fun at all and a weak, modern attempt at imitating Kaufman's lunacy. Kevin Bacon is the one bright spot in an otherwise tedious, lame film.
This excellent anime series, by Hayao Miyazaki, before he would found the brilliant Studio Ghibli, is a wonder. It's things like this that have people working together, reaching an understanding and overcoming problems and hate that kids should be watching. Not the pap that Disney hawks to make more money. The story has many points that surface in Hayao's work. Ecological disaster caused by man. The evil's of uncontrolled technology. A brave young man who's been raised after attempting to flee a devastated earth, by his grandfather, a scientist. A girl washes ashore on his island. She can telepathically link with birds and is being hunted by the evil people of Industria, who want to recreate the power that wrecked earth. Along with these two, Conan and Lana, the audience meets Monsley, who seems to be a servile agent of Industria and Captain Dice, a doofus pirate. This is a brilliant tale (and, as Hayao has said, better than the book. I agree.) engrossing, fun, emotional. A lot of the ideas behind it will reappear in Nausicca in the Valley of the Wind (my favorite Ghibli!). See this and one won't forget it, or regret it.
If you're looking for a feel good movie with a happy ending... move on. Move on right now. This film starts harsh and ends brutally. A brilliant symbol of cold war paranoia, an American visitor to England gets mixed up with a brutal leather jacketed thug (Played amazingly by Oliver Reed) sister who wishes to be free of him. The pair encounter a small group of children who fear the black death and are entrapped in a secret British installation. If I say anymore, first time viewers will be ruined as the reveal in this movie is simply horrific. I've watched, thanks to Turner, the uncut, rather than the horrendously edited US version. Want to feel some real fright? Watch this movie. It's fantastic but not easy to get through.
I've read nearly every book available on this, the pivotal battle of WW2. This comes up short. The battle is only covered in the second half hour. It really should have been called the Dusty Kleiss story. The mismatched footage, showing avenger torpedoe bombers (there were a few at Midway and they accomplished nothing) when it should have been devestator torpedoe bombers, or F6F hellcats when it should have been F4F wildcats, hurts the authenticity. Just a so-so retelling.
Did anyone even read the comic? This is just another weak as hell, badly written, plot hole filled 'story line.' Is this written with AI? Or are the interns too busy smoking weed? Someone has to be toking up.
Honestly, Maggie and Negan? How many times are either of them going to get in one stupid situation after another with an implausible escape? I haven't liked the character of Maggie since she left and came back. Herschel is just a punk who needs to get killed off. The first season at least, was shorter. Why the hell would anyone obsess over Manhattan island? And how, after what has to be fifteen years, are the ghouls still wandering around? Don't they rot eventually? The only positive thing I can say is this: Its better than the entirely lame The World Beyond.

I'll admit, I mostly hate the Kurtzman era of Star Trek. I'm tired of prequels (Discovery was horrible from the first episode to the last), sequels featuring tired looking cast members who had their time in the sun (Picard. The first two seasons were horrible and showed a Federation that was worthless), now Strange New Worlds, which, this season should be called Damn Bad Stories. What happened to Rebecca Romjin? She looks terrible. I don't recall Number One from the original pilot having Vulcan like eyebrows. Carol Kane and her oh so annoying voice, has to go. She's virtually a worthless character. Scotty is WAY too young for this show. This episode where crew get turned into perfect Vulcans, a semi-rip off of Voyagers absolutely terrible Tuvix episode, went nowhere and accomplished nothing. So many are whining; I'm so sad this is getting cancelled! I'm not. As when Voyager and Enterprise (Voyager good for seasons 4-7, Enterprise only for season 4) arrived, I feel Star Trek needs to take a seat back. I'm not excited about the long rumored (Since Star Trek2!) Academy show. The entire Franchise needs a five year rest and Alex Kurtzman and his lot, need to go. Where's Manny Coto when fans need him? Two episodes to go. Will I get through them or even care? Based on the previous episodes, No.
As I watched this, I thought of all those MASH episodes where a reporter interviews them; and the far better episode of the new Battlestar Galactica, that did the same. This weak episode, what happened to the third season? This is usually (Enterprise the exception since it's third season was terrible) where a show gets better. This is a rip off Star Trek IV (Listen to the alien creatures sounds, think of the probe and whales), Encounter at Farpoint (the creature instantly reminded me of that creature). What the various crew said about Starfleet, especially Spock carving himself - Spock a cutter? Have these writers even watched Star Trek? Now I hear there may be ANOTHER prequel, Star Trek year One. Please stop. I'm barely interested in the terrible Kurtzman destruction of Star Trek. Where's Manny Coto when you need him?
Fiend Without a Face is one of the triumvirate of Science Fiction films Marshall Thompson starred in (the other two being the equally entertaining First Man into Space, and It! The Terror from Beyond Space). The cast in this is excellent and, like THEM! Another great 50's sci-fi/monster movie, the documentary approach as well as not revealing the beasties until near the end, works very well. A story of science gone awry, here the scientist taps into the nuclear power of a nearby Air Force base, attempting to use Nuclear power to expand their radar, creates the titular creature. One of the most original creatures, these little leaping brains with spines attached, are brilliant and gruesome! A great movie that I've watched many, many times.
I've always found SNW's a middle of the road show. Either I like an episode or I don't. There's no middle ground. This season has, so far, been horrible. Do these writers who are picking and choosing what they want to emulate from the original series, even WATCH the show? Nurse Chapel is a drag. Bringing in Korby, why does he have a scottish accent? The 5000 year old engineer, one of the worst tropes in Star Trek history needs to go. Scotty is way too young at this point, another failure in casting. Paul Wesley reminds me of Jim Carry trying to do Captain kirk. This entire plotline was weak and again, filled with ridiculous Star Trek tropes. The entire humans escaping and creating a planet eating ship is ripped off from Star Trek the Motion Picture and Voyager (a far better episode) Distant Origins. The writers have already ruined the Gorn (Kirk meets them first, go watch Arena) like Enterprise did (with some of the worst CGI in Trek history). This season the show has gone downhill faster than a rocket who's engines failed ten seconds after lifting off!
This is another movie I heard about for years, how great it was! How tremendous! How much... crap can people spew. Amateurish, nearly three quarters of the running time is BORING. The acting is terrible. The story is weak. The Plot? Well what there is of it, has been done oh, a thousand times already? The gay characters are an insult to the gay community. The make-up? Holy cow it is horrible. The directing and filming? Among the worst I've ever seen and I've seen hundreds of bad movies. This is at the bottom with the rest of them. I simply cannot believe Bob Clark and Alan Ormsby also did the excellent Deathdream/Dead of night. They obviously learned a bit more from this mess when they made that far superior movie. Watch this only if you can't sleep. It'll help.
Either the writers are just happy to get a paycheck, or Star Trek under Kurtzman (not the most brilliant of idea men) has reached a dead end. This is a combination of too many poor ideas many already used in previous episodes (is that entity going to turn out to be the one who inhabited Jack the Ripper? In Wolf in the Fold?) Did anyone not know that Dana was going to get killed (a terrible trope way overused - LET'S KILL THE BLACK CHARACTER). When is the annoying immortal engineer getting kicked off the show? How many immortal races exist in the Star Trek Universe? Too many if I'm to be consulted. Just a truly terrible episode where really, little of import happens. Please get rid of the annoying chapel and Roger Korby already. And the captains girlfriend. Why is she even on the ship? Shouldn't she be in a starfleet hospital somewhere? I'm actually glad they're ending this show and, as long as Kurtzman has anything to do with this trash, I have little hopes for Star Trek Academy or whatever they're going to call it. At least it won't be a prequel.
How Al Adamson got any money at all to make any of his horrible, badly done in every way, movies, is beyond me. This is one of the worst of the worst. Horrible direction. Horrible story. Horrible cinematography. The acting is beyond horrible. Even Regina Carroll's breasts couldn't keep me watching. How I sat through this entire mess, and why i waited (having seen photos of it in Famous Monsters) years to do so, shows that I'm A) A stickler to be punished and B) I'm hopeless when it comes to the lure of bad movies. HOPELESS like this piece of trash 'movie'. Naish and Chaney must have been truly in need of the money. Chaney looks like they paid him in cases of beer. Adamson would meet a terrible fate a few years later. But it came too late to save the audience from this really badly made movie. This is actually worse than Plan 9 or the Creeping Terror.
One of the things I've hated about Star Trek from the very beginning is common beings, mortal shall we say, defeating omnipotent beings. I never liked Trelane and absolutely hate Q. These are a series of stupid episodes which this one continues the tradition of. Star Trek is mostly for adults (See: the brilliant ANDOR for an example of Adult Science Fiction). This is Star Drek, and is weak as anything badly written. This is down there with the amphibian episode of Voyager, Move Along Home from DS9, And the Children Shall Lead from the original series. Just bad all around. It isn't funny. It isn't interesting. It's a cheap mish-mash of other terrible episodes. Please, just stop stupid rip-off episodes like this! People are crying that SNW will end with season 5. If this is the best the writers can do, just end it this year!
A poor way to begin the third season. I know, as a Trek fan since 1966, who calls himself a TREKKIE (A Trekker is someone walking across the African Veldt) I'm considered an anomaly. A throwback. DS9 was the last great series. Nothing has come close since then. The terrible Enterprise, which this is certainly in the same time line as, got Rick Berman fired. I keep hoping trash like Discovery and Picard will get Kurtzman fired. I do like, mostly, SNW, however, I don't like either of these episodes, which totally wreck Trek history. Go watch ARENA. One of the best episodes of the original show (without which none of us would be talking about this show). Gorn are bipedal, no tails. They are cold blooded, but can be seen on Federation sensors (one of the dumbest ideas in SNW. Federation sensors can find virtually anything, even if they can't identify it, but Gorn can hide? And, being organic creatures, not the Borg, phasers don't affect them?) and their weapons aren't overpowering, or the Gorn ship that destroyed Cestus 3 wouldn't have run. Turning them into velociraptors was another silly idea. The look is terrible, like a reject from Face Off. What is it with new Treks thinking they can reinvent the wheel? First those chandelier wearing Klingons, now the Gorn? And they're also xenomorphs now? Needing another species to lay their eggs in? The smaller Gorn spinning ships looked like they were looted from the Chig fighters in the way too short, Space: Above and Beyond. What other ideas will these writers loot for this show? Unfortunately, the writers took the old SCIFI trope and saved his girlfriend. This is obviously not the original timeline (Thank's to Berman, Braga's, Abram's and Kurtzman's ridiculous ideas), why not change Pikes future? Will they visit Talos 7? And since he's passively accepting his future doom, why have a relationship with anyone? The entire Spock and Chapel non-romance, is silly. Her love for him was unequited, and outside of weak novels, never returned. Introducing Montgomery Scott was a great idea, the best part of a weak, lifeless episode. I hope he replaces Carol Kane because her voice, or the voice she's using is so annoying. Also, the idea of an immortal race-is she El-Aurien? Is overused. I've accepted that Pike's quarters on the far too many portholes Enterprise is a large as a deck, and having open fires is acceptable on the ship. I've accepted the hideous costumes. The cast of this is far better than Discovery and Anson Mount is really channeling Jeffery Hunter. They should have come up with a new race, rather than misuse the Gorn. Oh, but wait, Voyager (first 3 seasons were so uneven) tried that with the Kazon, who were abandoned because they stunk, Enterprise tried that with the Xindi and that was a total failure. Here's to hoping season 3, which will be delayed by the current strikes will continue being mostly good. And I hope Kurtzman will keep his hands off it.
When will these endless franchises end? Lame stories, with stupid deaths, the only thing worth watching in this was Tony Todd who (weakly) connected this trash with the original lame series. The first movie was like the first Friday the 13th. Interesting and original. Then, like these weak as hell Jurassic park movies (the same movie now what? 15 times? When will science learn?) The deaths in this one, and the terrible depressing ending.... were nearly too much to take. I wasn't in suspense. I wasn't grossed out. I was bored nearly beyond belief. Even my popcorn was bored! PLEASE STOP with the endless sequels. They are just weak as hell. This one was the worst of the bunch.
It's a tremendous, excellent Superman movie! Yes, James Gunn, creator of irreverent films, once fired (foolishly by an overreacting Disney/Marvel) has done what Uber Hack Zack Snyder couldn't, and breathed new life into Superman! As good as the 78, David being a truly humane and reachable Superman, Rachel bringing great life to Lois Lane, Wendel as a superb Perry white and, bringing in Krypto (who, for me, steals the movie!) along with Nicholas Hoult as the most evil, easily hated Lex Luthor of all time (and let's hope he won't be in the sequel. Superman has quite a few other villains), puts together a great movie. Originally, seeing all the other heroes, I wondered why? Well, that question has been answered! Another great thing, they didn't recreate his origin! No one needs that! This is a great, fun movie that really highlights the man of steel. None of Snyders dark silliness, or Singer's over abundance on the '78. A good, new, fresh look on the man of steel! Go Krypto!
I constantly am amazed at the ratings on IMDB.com. That this movie, this fun, reverent look at the video stores of the 1980's doesn't have a higher rating, at least an 8, amazes me. A tremendously fun film, just make sure to pause when they show the titles of the movies in the faux video store. Many homages to the franchises of the 1980's abound here! The two leads are tremendous. The young woman, YaaYaa, who returns her dead fathers old videos, including the Videonecomicon (a brilliant wink at the audiences) which sends the two plummeting into an alternate dimensions where certain characters from movies come alive! They have to figure out how to survive this night! WATCH THIS MOVIE! It's better than anything the Asylum or any horror comedy of the last five years.
