The first half of the movie is a mishmash with too many characters and too many storylines to follow. I wanted a family movie, not a B-rated spy action with some dinosaurs on the back.
C. I. A. vs. Mercenaries vs. Other mercenaries who hire more mercenaries... My 7yo watched the motorcycle chase with zero interest and finally asked "wait, who's chasing who again?" My 14yo just gave up, and reached for her iphone.
Oh, and let's throw in some old characters into this mess. Because fan service. Cha-ching.
It gets better in the second half of the movie, where it all goes back to the "nature + adventure" format. But overall it's still a disaster.
P. S. Jeff Goldblum still rocks though.

I'm a huge fan of the original Matrix which was a groundbreaking movie. I'm also a huge fan of Keanu, so I paid no attention to the bad reviews, went ahead and watched the movie. After all it's a Matrix. It's Keanu. It can't be THAT bad, right?
Right?
Well, it is that bad. It's boring. The script is chaotic, over complicated, you feel no compassion to the characters and no involvement with what's on the screen.
For the first 10 minutes I tried my best to keep myself excited. "Yeah, baby, we're back! Look, Keanu in front of a big ass computer! Using a vertical mouse!"
But one hour in I found myself bored, distracted and feeling nothing.
The only character with more-or-less charisma is the "Bugs" girl but that's about it.
Shame.

I love a slow paced story and melodrama as long as it's not sold as SCI FI.
I mean, have you seen the trailer? Mysterious signs, apocalyptical scenery, alien invasion and finally "from the producer of Martian" - hey, that's my favorite book!
But... nope.
