He and
Duncan Gibbins met in the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain. Gibbins was best man at Hunter's wedding and godfather to his son. In November 1993 Gibbins was airlifted to Sherman Oaks Hospital after suffering severe burns while trying to save his cat in the forest fires in Topanga Canyon. Hunter flew immediately to LA but Gibbins died before he could reach him.
