J.P.Dutta had planned to make the film "Tiger Hills". He had signed Sunil Shetty, Saif Ali Khan,Akshaye Khanna, Arbaaz Khan. The film was called off due to budget issues. It was finally made as "Shershaah" with Siddharth Malhotra.
He did full justice to his role in Farhan Akhtar's Dil Chahta Hai (2001) as the sensitive and reserved artist Siddarth who falls in love with an older woman. His performance won him the Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award.
