Although suffering from aviatophobia (fear of flying), he portrayed war pilot Manfred von Richthofen in El Barón Rojo (2008).

Due to his phobia of flying, he never flies within Germany. He always drives. Every time he flies outside of Germany, he has to talk to his therapist before boarding the plane.

Is fluent in German and English and has basic knowledge in French.

Plays the piano and the violin.
