Jason Ruddy is a British-Irish writer and director based in London. With a background in design, he returned to filmmaking in 2021 and has since built a reputation for visually distinctive and emotionally resonant work. Ruddy has collaborated with notable actors including Nathaniel Parker, Joel Beckett and composer Dave Rowntree.
In 2022, his short film Hunting Bears premiered internationally, screening at festivals across Europe and North America. It won Best Short Film at the Aarhus International Film Festival and earned him the Best First-Time Director award at the Europe Film Festival London. The film was also an official selection at the Cambridge Film Festival and the Kingston International Film Festival.
In 2024, Ruddy appeared in the feature documentary Quiet on Set: The Class Division in the Film Industry, offering commentary on inequality and accessibility within the UK film industry.
As of 2025, Ruddy is in pre-production on two new short films and is developing his first live-action feature film, with plans to begin production in 2026.
