Ecuadorian-Canadian Award-winning filmmaker, Lisetty Sandoval is on a mission to empower people to become the best version of themselves through her films.
The discovery of her passion for film started at the age of 15 when she started writing and filming stories out of songs and simple sentences. Born in Guayaquil, Ecuador, Lisetty immigrated to Canada alone to refine her craft. She trained at Humber College in the Film and Television Production program and under the wing of her master Thomas Dean Donnelly the writer known for the film Conan the Barbarian.
She produced and directed her first narrative short film, The Fallen, a short documentary El Blanco. She performed several roles in the faith based talk show "Horizons" as producer assistant and director at Rogers TV in Toronto.
She also has a business management certification from the University of Toronto which allowed to fuse her business background with her artistic passion of filmmaking.
This led to her first feature film, Penelope's Story, about a strong-willed teenage girl, tormented by years of sexual slavery, who wants to escape her bondage, but her newfound faith must be put to the test to break the cycle of abuse. Penelope's Story began its festival run and premiered at the Latin American Film Festival in Ottawa on June 2,2023.
Her work is focused in the triumph of the human spirit as she believes in using media entertainment to motivate and inspire.
