Focused on horror, sci-fi and dark comedy, Lachlan Marks is an award-winning Australian screenwriter who has developed TV and film projects for production companies in Europe, Canada, the UK and Australia.
Passionate about examining monsters of all varieties through unexpected, timely and inclusive stories, his original material has been selected for the Australian Writers' Guild peer-reviewed Pathways program, received major funding from showrunner Shane Brennan's (NCIS: Los Angeles) talent incubator Scripted Ink and garnered awards from WeScreenplay, Shore Scripts and A Night Of Horror International Film Festival.
Since 2020, he's worked with fellow AWG Pathways alumni Bec Moret and Jasper Garner Gore as part of all-terrain screenwriting trio MMGG. Their first feature film, a thriller for Reel One Entertainment, was filmed in Toronto, Canada in 2023. Several MMGG-led horror features are now in development with production companies in Australia and Europe.
As a script editor/consultant, Lachlan has guided projects to government funding and top prizes at Academy Award-qualifying film festivals. Major music videos he's created concepts for have been viewed millions of times online (Trivium, Amon Amarth).
Prior to committing to a tortured life of screenwriting, Lachlan was a full-time journalist and worked extensively as a touring musician. When not on deadline, he still performs as touring guitarist for ARIA-nominated post-rock band sleepmakeswaves.
