- Mufasa: Everything you see - exists together in a delicate balance. While others search for what they can take, a true king searches for what he can give.
- [first lines]
- Scar: [to mouse] Life's - not fair - is it, my little friend? While some are born to feast - others spend their lives in the dark... begging for scraps. The way I see it, you and I are exactly the same, we both want to find a way out.
- Mufasa: Everything the light touches... is our kingdom. But a king's time as ruler rises and falls like the sun. One day, the sun will set on my time here, and will rise with you as the new king.
- Simba: My father once told me: protect everything the light touches, if I don't fight for it who will?
- Timon: [distracting the hyenas] Ma chère mademoiselle, we are proud to present... your dinner. Be. Our. Gue - ahhhh!
- [Before he can finish performing, the hyenas chase him and Pumbaa off]
- Pumbaa: I missed 'em, I'm gonna get one of those vultures one day; I'm gonna get one!
- Timon: I don't know why it's so important to you.
- Pumbaa: I just feel like it would make me feel better.
- [gasps]
- Pumbaa: Oh no, it's a little lion!
- Timon: That is not a lion.
- Pumbaa: Well then, go check it out; what is it?
- Timon: That is not a lion, it's a furry bird.
- Pumbaa: It looks like a lion.
- Timon: It's not a li--let me get a closer look, excuse me.
- [huffs]
- Timon: All right, let me see what we're dealing with here.
- [alarmed]
- Timon: It's a lion! Run for your life, Pumbaa!
- Pumbaa: Wait, hey, Timon, wait, wait, hey, Timon, it's a little lion!
- Timon: [hiding behind rock] It gets bigger.
- Pumbaa: Can we keep him, can we please keep him? Oh, oh, okay, I promise I'll walk him every day; if he makes a little mess, I'll clean it up!
- Timon: You'll be his little mess; he's gonna eat you and then use my body as a toothpick.
- Pumbaa: But one day when he's big and strong, he'll be on our side.
- Timon: I got it: what if he's on our side? Hear me out: having a ferocious lion around might not be a bad idea.
- Pumbaa: Well then, can we keep him?
- Timon: Yes, of course we can keep him! My God, who's the brains of this operation?
- Pumbaa: [singing] We're gonna name him Fred!
- Young Simba: I'm going to be King of Pride Rock. I want to be brave like you.
- Mufasa: I'm only brave when I have to be.
- Mufasa: [from TV spot] Look at the stars, the great kings look down on us from those stars... And so will I.
- Zazu: How lovely to see the future King and Queen!
- Young Simba: What do you mean?
- Zazu: One day, you will be betrothed.
- Young Nala: Simba, you speak bird?
- Zazu: Married... to each other.
- Young Simba, Young Nala: Ewwww!
- Scar: This gorge is where all lions, come to find their roar.
- Young Simba: All lions, even my Dad?
- Scar: Even Mufasa came here when he was your age, refused to leave until his roar could be heard above the rim.
- Young Simba: All the way up there?
- Scar: That's when you know you've found it, with a little practice you'll never be called a cub again.
- Young Simba: Watch this.
- [does a small roar]
- Scar: You'll get it Simba, just takes time, I'll check on you later.
- Young Simba: Dad will be so proud, huh?
- Scar: It's a gift, he'll never forget.
- Simba: [attacks Scar after Scar admitted in to killing Mufasa] My father, your own brother - how could you!
- Scar: [to the hyenas and lionesses] First he kills Mufasa, and now he wants to kill me!
- Simba: YOU killed him! Tell them the truth!
- Scar: Don't believe his lies!
- Sarabi: Scar? You told us you didn't get to the gorge in time.
- Scar: That's true!
- Sarabi: [outraged] Then how did you see the look in Mufasa's eyes?
- [Scar growls]
- Simba: MURDERER!
- Scar: KILL THEM ALL!
- Scar: [notices the hyenas] My friends, it will take some time but together we will build our army.
- Kamari: Friends, huh. I thought you said we were revolting scavengers.
- Azizi: [angry] Yeah, and you wanted to kill us.
- Scar: No, no let me explain I was trying to fool him. We will rule together!
- Shenzi: There was only one true thing you ever said Scar, a hyenas belly is never full.
- Scar: NO!
- [Scar tries to fight off the hyenas but they all quickly pounce and maul him to death]
- Pumbaa: [the hyenas are body shaming Pumbaa causing him to react] I may run from hyenas, but I do not run from a bully!
- Zazu: The king approaches! This is *not* a drill. His Majesty has requested an audience. Upon his entrance, you will rise and genuflect.
- Scar: Zazu... you've made me lose my lunch.
- Zazu: You will answer to Mufasa for missing the ceremony this morning.
- Scar: I answer to no one.
- Zazu: Scar? Scar! Scar, Scar, Scar, Scar, Scar, no! No, don't look at me like that.
- Scar: Are you hungry, Zazu? Perhaps--we could have a bite TOGETHER!
- [lunges at Zazu]
- Zazu: You can't eat me. It is forbidden to eat a member of the king's court!
- [Scar pins him to the ground]
- Zazu: Ow! Please! Stop it!
- Mufasa: [enters the den] Scar!
- Scar: [releases Zazu and faces his brother] Well, look who's come to mingle with the commoners.
- Mufasa: Sarabi and I didn't see you at the presentation of Simba.
- Scar: Was that today? Must've slipped my mind. Of course, I meant no disrespect towards His Majesty or Sarabi. As you know, I have tremendous respect for the queen.
- Zazu: As the king's brother, you should've been first in line.
- Scar: I WAS first in line. Or don't you remember?
- [rises up and walks out of the den]
- Scar: That is, until the precious--prince arrived.
- Mufasa: Don't turn your back on *me*, Scar.
- Scar: Oh *no*, Mufasa; perhaps you shouldn't turn your back on me.
- Mufasa: [roars and leaps in front of Scar, blocking his way] Is that a challenge?
- Scar: I wouldn't dream of challenging you... again.
- Zazu: A wise decision! You are no match for His Royalness.
- Scar: Well, as far as brains go, I've got the lion's share, but when it comes to brute strength, I'm afraid my big brother will always rule.
- Mufasa: Not *always*, Scar. One day, it will be my son who rules. Simba will be your king.
- Scar: Then long live the king.
- Mufasa: [watches his brother leave] What am I gonna do with him?
- Zazu: Oh, come on. We both know he should've been expelled from the Pride Lands long ago.
- Mufasa: He's my brother. Zazu. This is his home. As long as I am king, that will never change.
- Kamari: [to Simba and Nala] Well look at this, we weren't expecting guests... today. Would you two cubs like to... stay for dinner?
- Azizi: [butting in] Yeah stay for dinner, because you look like a midnight snack.
- Kamari: [annoyed and irritated] Can you just give me a little bit of space.
- Azizi: [backing up a little] I'm helping.
- Kamari: We've talked about this before- I come in alone I'm the lead distraction so everyone can circle.
- Azizi: Okay, okay. I'm sorry.
- Kamari: Don't be sorry, just do it!
- Shenzi: Now this is a meal I've waited my whole life. What an unexpected treat to meet the son of a king.
- Kamari: Wait a second the king, as in you know who.
- Azizi: Who rules you know where.
- Shenzi: Mufasa does not rule me.
- Young Simba: You cant do anything to me, because I'm the future king.
- Shenzi: [chuckles] he's telling me what to do, his father's strength flickering inside, I wonder how all that bravery will taste.
- Zazu: [suddenly appears] Let them go Shenzi. They made a mistake a horrible mistake, but if you do this, you will start a war with Mufasa.
- Shenzi: Hyenas and Lions have been at war since the beginning of time. But Mufasa's bloodline WILL END HERE.
- [lunges at Simba and Nala but they escape]
- Shenzi: don't let them get away!
- Mufasa: Believe in yourself and there will come a day when others will have no choice but to believe with you.
- Scar: You fools have stripped your land of every living thing. And yet, I sent two little cubs your way and they come back alive.
- Kamari: I guess we'll have to eat you instead.
- Scar: Why eat one meal when you could be feasting the rest of your lives.
- Shenzi: What could you possibly offer us?
- Scar: A place where you could fill your bellies. For everything the light touches is yours for the kill.
- Shenzi: The Pride Lands are not yours to give. The king controls those hunting grounds.
- Scar: That's why I'm going to kill him. Mufasa has always shown too much restraint when it comes to hunting. When I am king, the mighty will be free to take whatever they want. Because a hyena's belly is never full.
- Shenzi: Mufasa's far too powerful to challenge.
- Scar: Mufasa is yesterday's message A clapped out, distracted regime whose failings undoubtedly presage the need for a different dream.
- Scar: Long, live...
- [Raises paws]
- Scar: THE KING!
- [Scar slaps Mufasa]
- Mufasa: [screams as he falls] Aaaa-aaaa-aaaahhhh!
- Young Simba: [cries out] No-oooo-oooo-oooo!
- Simba: It's over, Scar.
- Scar: Have mercy on me.
- Simba: Mercy? For what you did.
- Scar: It was the hyenas. Those were the revolting, scavengers made me do it. I was planning on killing them all.
- Simba: You fooled the hyenas? Just like you fooled me.
- Scar: Simba, you wouldn't kill your only uncle.
- Simba: No, Scar. I'm not like you.
- Scar: Oh, Simba. You are truly noble, and I will make it up to you. Just tell me how I can prove myself. Tell me what you want me to do.
- Simba: Run... Run away, Scar. Run away, and never return.
- Scar: Yes. Of course... As you wish.
- [looking down and seeing a pile of hot coals, began to angry]
- Scar: Your majesty!
- [throws embers of fire at Simba's face]
- Shenzi: [Simba has fallen over a high cliff] Go down, and make sure he's dead.
- Kamari: [Azizi gets to close to him; annoyed] Seriously
- Azizi: Oh, I'm sorry.
- Kamari: [Azizi backs up a bit] That's a good distance right there.
- Azizi: Ok.
- Kamari: [they both look down the ravine] No little cub could survive that fall, listen we're gonna tell her we went down there and we ate him
- Azizi: [misunderstanding] Uh-huh, that's perfect cause I am starving.
- Kamari: [annoyed] We're not gonna eat him, 'Simba is dead', that's all she ever has to know.
- Azizi: Works for me.
