The Fortune Handbook

I went to watch Kung Fu Yoga the day before I watched this, and that movie was horrible. I went to watch this because I felt that Chinese New Year was not complete without watching a decent Chinese New Year movie and this movie fulfilled my expectations at the very least. There was a plot, though simple, but complete. The comedy was decent and it made me laugh. The younger actors (especially the girls) were very unnatural but this was easily covered by the performance of the main characters as the younger actors were just supporting roles. The CGI had a smooth texture, unlike Kung Fu Yoga *coughs*. Overall, if you want to watch a light-hearted movie this Chinese New Year, this is one of the films that is worth a watch.

The film is a light-hearted comedy, that is suitable for families and friends to watch during the CNY festival. Mark Lee (李国皇) is a scene stealer, as his performance as a veteran perfectly portrays a bright and comedic character, bringing attention from the audience whenever he is on screen. Li Nan Xing's performance as a filial son who wishes to protect the legacy of his family's store is convincing and touches the audiences' emotions when the character was in despair. However, supporting actors' acting were generally unnatural, sponsors were commercialised too blatantly and certain dialogues were relatively sexist, till the point where it becomes too lame to watch. Compared to other films featured, Jack Neo's Take 2 has a higher vote.

The performance of the actors and actresses are nothing but embarrassing. Come on,over exaggerating and low-standard jokes are like the most outdated jokes in a comedy movie now the days and it's just...Really bad. 1 star for the around three months afford of the staff. That's how long you take to create a horrible film that brings more embarrassment than laughter.
