The Manhattan Project

This is one of those films that could have gone either way. It could have been absolutely horrible, or it could have been entertaining. Luckily, it went the second way. I thought the writing was pretty good. In fact it was better than good. You think you know how it's going to turn out, but there's a little surprise at the end.

The story is basically about an older gentleman who's been diagnosed with a terminal disease. He only has a short time to live so he wants to end his life on his terms. He draws inspiration from a local who wheeled out onto the ice in his wheelchair in the dead of winter, got drunk, and froze to death.

When he tells his son about his wishes, he's appalled. But eventually he comes around and agrees to accompany his dad on his last little adventure.

I thought the acting was good--especially Terry Novak. The townspeople were not quite up to his level of talent. But they added to the folksy nature of the film.

If you're looking for a bit of entertaining movie-viewing, check this one out.
