This was such a beautiful story about Black love. There was such a huge influx of gorgeous stories of different varieties about Black folks falling in love in the 90s, and I feel like this film is helping to open that door up again but an even more contemporary context.
I loved everything about it, and I really appreciated how realistic it felt. The creativity in the cinematography was also so exceptional! Every shot was gorgeous, the acting was raw and real, and the music. Just wow to it all. I will be constantly revisiting and rewatching this for a while.
If you're even thinking about checking it out, you absolutely should give it a watch!

Don't usually review movies but the low rating prompted this review.
First things first. This movie does not try to be what it's not. The acting is not the greatest but it's not bad also.
What caught my attention is how seamless & "clean" this movie was. It avoided the usual stereotypes and focused on the story & how it unfolds which I found to be a breath of fresh air.
I consider myself very open minded as I tend to like unconventional movies and this is up there with the rest of them.
Words cannot describe my pleasant experience enough - just see the movie. It clearly isn't a big budget movie but the cinematography and score are amazing.

This film is so beautiful and intentional. I love the transitions that indicate how much time has passed or how each character has grown. Nothing about this film was predictable. It made me laugh, cry, mad. I felt like the characters were messy af in a good way. Relatable. A beautiful love story honestly. We need more of this from the director and writer especially featuring Black characters? A loving family and friends? I loved everything about this film. Really made my heart burst at the love developed in such a short amount of time. 10s. No notes! Amazing acting!!! Put each of the leads into more of everything. Their chemistry was amazing.
She Taught Love is a beautiful and deeply moving film. It captures the power of love to heal and transform, with the lead actress delivering an incredibly raw and heartfelt performance that brings the story to life. The cinematography and soundtrack create the perfect atmosphere, allowing each moment to land with real emotion and depth. Every scene feels genuine, with the film's slower pacing giving time for the characters' journeys to unfold in a powerful and meaningful way.
The story goes beyond romance, addressing the layers of personal and generational trauma in a way that feels authentic and relatable. The chemistry between the leads is palpable, making their connection feel natural and earned. The authenticity of the dialogue and the nuanced performances make this a powerful watch, leaving viewers with a sense of hope and a reminder of the importance of self-love, healing, and finding strength in vulnerability.
