Later described by Ray Milland as "my first honest-to-God leading role in America" naturally he seems rather above it all, although getting to kiss Lamour probably compensated for being briefly required to sing.
J. Carroll Naish bares his teeth as a white-hating idol worshipper who along with his followers (SPOILER COMING:) comes to grief amid a welter of boulders and crocodiles; while along with the Technicolor the eight-armed idol itself is probably the most visually interesting feature of the film (although you only get a really good look at it in the publicity stills).

- CuriosidadesOne of over 700 Paramount productions, filmed between 1929-49, which were sold to MCA/Universal in 1958 for television distribution, and have been owned and controlled by Universal ever since. Its earliest documented telecasts took place in Asheville, North Carolina Friday 1 May 1959 on WLOS (Channel 13) and in Seattle Monday 29 June 1959 on KIRO (Channel 7); it first aired in Boston Monday 12 October 1959 on WBZ (Channel 4). At this time, color broadcasting was in its infancy, limited to only a small number of high rated programs, primarily on NBC and NBC affiliated stations, so these film showings were all still in B&W. Viewers were not offered the opportunity to see these films in their original Technicolor until several years later. It was released on DVD 9 December 2014 as part of the Universal Vault Series.
