Psicosis II: El regreso de Norman

Preguntas frecuentes

The following FAQ entries may contain spoilers. Only the biggest ones (if any) will be covered with spoiler tags. Spoiler tags are used sparingly in order to make the page more readable.

No. Robert Bloch wrote "Psycho II", a sequel to his novel "Psycho", which had become Alfred Hitchcock's 1960 film of the same name. This film is a sequel to the Hitchcock movie, but is not based on Bloch's own sequel. Tom Holland wrote the original screenplay.

"In the Belly of the Beast" by Jack Abbott, published in 1981.

No, a body double was used for every shot where Tilly's face isn't clearly visible.

Mary calls herself "Mary Samuels", which should have tipped him off. Her aunt, Marion Crane, had used a similar alias ("Marie Samuels") when she checked into his motel over twenty years earlier. We can only guess that he forgets or writes this off as a coincidence.

There are two or three killers, depending on your count. Emma Spool kills Toomey, the boy in the basement and Lila Loomis. Mary accidentally kills the psychiatrist. Norman kills Emma Spool. A fourth killer (as opposed to a murderer) is the police officer who shoots Mary to death in the line of duty.

The movie leaves room for ambiguity. Norman could have killed Toomey, even though he was fairly stable at that point. Lila could have killed the boy in the basement, especially since her disguise was already hidden there.

Emma Spool probably wasn't dressing up as anyone. It's more likely her normal attire happened to resemble that of Norman's alter-ego. Lila and Mary Loomis were the ones dressing up as Norman's mother.

Norman's known victims from the original Psicosis (1960) are (1) his mother; (2) her lover; (3) shower victim Marion Crane; (4) private investigator Milton Arbogast; and (5-6) the two missing women mentioned by the police to the psychiatrist at the end of Psicosis (1960). (These may be Holly and Gloria, whose murders are seen in the prequel Psicosis IV - El comienzo (1990).) The identity of the seventh victim is never specified, but is presumably someone whose unreported disappearance was uncovered during the police investigation of Norman's activities.
