Wetten, dass..?

On the 4th December 2010, for the first time in the history of "Wetten, dass..?", a show had to be cancelled in the middle of its live broadcasting. This was because of a serious accident that happened during a bet, in which contestant Samuel Koch was somersaulting over a series of cars using jumping stilts. While jumping over the fourth car, which was driven by his father, he lost momentum, toppled, and hit the ground with his head and was unable to move. The broadcasting of the show was interrupted at first, until it was decided to cancel it completely. Koch survived the accident, but the injury left him permanently paralyzed. Following that incident, Thomas Gottschalk announced that he would resign from hosting the show, a decision his co-host Michelle Hunziker followed.
