I saw SKINTIGHT theatrically 30 years ago, and it holds up well today, courtesy of a DVD-R issue by Something Weird. Film marks something of a career high water mark for journeyman pornographer Ed De Priest.
Annette Haven, Paul Thomas, Lee Carroll and Maria Tortuga star as sex therapists, with the film limning their sessions with clients as well as fantasies. Selling point is an abstract, fetish-tinged vignette spotlighting Lisa De Leeuw which is played three times (getting things rolling as the opening credits sequence) for good measure, and seems like a '90s sequence from Michael Ninn or Andrew Blake.
Chief patient is R.J. Reynolds as a guy who suffers from premature ejaculation. Haven, portraying a student still working on her master's thesis while employed at Thomas's clinic, fails to cure him with her "hands-on" approach, but later in the movie buxom Lee Carroll does the job, getting Reynolds to hold off ejaculating during a highly erotic session.
Fellow clinician Maria Tortuga masturbates while watching Haven at work on closed-circuit TV, and later is raped by Thomas in the film's token roughie segment. Thomas, styled with a fake-looking mustache, has an odd character here, making obscene phone calls spoken in verse, and reading S&M magazines which inspire the imagery of the De Leeuw-led orgy. Several porn stars cameo in this fantasy segment, notably Chris Cassidy, Mike Horner and Billy Dee (early in his career).
Another key player is Randy West as Annette's client and boy friend. He, too, has an odd sexual dysfunction but she cures him and earns an engagement ring to boot.
Mai Lin pops up as the wife of character porn actor Aaron Stuart, featured in a well-done troilism scene outdoors by a hot tub with Tortuga sharing her spotlight. Attractive location and outdoor sex help lift SKINTIGHT out of the usual claustrophobic XXX rut.
My favorite scene has to be Thomas paired with loops star Connie Peterson. She plays his shy fiancée who's dead-set against premarital sex, but he talks her into anal sex so that she can remain a virgin (!). This ploy is something of an in-joke, since Connie was already an underground favorite whose specialty was anal sex, known via mags and stags, and immortalized in feature films as the star of THE LITTLE FRENCH MAID the same year as making SKINTIGHT.
