"You alone I love" is a far-fetched melodrama . Two clowns have taken in the little girl of a trapeze artist who killed herself. One becomes a great singer and only watches from afar over the education of his protégée who lives with the other. Later, she falls in love with the singer of love without knowing that he is her benefactor, but they meet again and confess their love.
A vehicle for Egyptian-born Reda Caire (check the stage surname) whose name has sunk into oblivion ,this is a poor soap opera ; one can save ,at a pinch , the scenes between Pauline Carton ,as a spinster who runs a posh boarding-school and Gorlett,a provençal actor , playing a former clown who passes himself off as a marquis (with titles up his sleeve, in both senses of the term);but the vaccum cleaner tycoon's widow, (Mona Goya)who woos the crooner assiduously with the help of the manager interested in her checks , gets on your nerves in the long run.
