Years ago on the PBs Series Matinée At The Bijou,and enjoyed it. Joe Palooka is living high off the Hog in New York City not knowing that his stay is being financed by his manager Johnny Berkes making endorsement deals with rather shady products. When Joe is invited to go on a Radio show and endorse Asphalt Chewing Gum he surprises the sponsor by telling the listening audience that the Gum is poison,and that no one should buy it. What does the sponsor do?He starts a fist fight with the reigning Heavyweight Champion Joe Palooka and gets clobbered on the air. An Entertaining,if somewhat odd Short Film.One wonders how Palloka came to mean a poor Fighter when Joe Palook won all his bouts.
