Episodio #1.1

This wasn't the start I was expecting, this first episode focuses on the origins of the show, the conception, and how it came from nothing to a show that gathered mega audiences.

This was a magical episode, absolutely mind blowing, I was gripped from start to finish. The story is wonderful, the acting is great, but best of all is the performance of Michael Sheen, who is off the scale as Chris Tarrant, his performance is incredible.

I didn't expect to enjoy it, it was awesome. 10/10.

I like the bit where they came up with a game show

Robert Redford's Quiz Show examined why primetime quiz shows fell out of favour in primetime US networks.

There was too much temptation for television executives to rig the shows in favour of good television drama and ratings.

This was never a problem on UK television. The regulators limited the prize funds. On Mastermind after you win the final you get a glass bowl or how about a Blankety Blank chequebook and pen.

Once the prize limit was lifted and Who Wants to be a Millionaire introduced a £1,000,000 top prize. Quiz players saw that their favourite past time could have them rolling in the money.

The interesting aspect about the first episode of Quiz apart from how good 'Tony Blair' was playing Chris Tarrant was that a network of quiz fanatics quickly formed to try to rig the system.

For a 25% cut, you could phone a friend that could guarantee you the correct answer.

The first episode concentrated more on Major Charles Ingram's brother in law's attempts to get on the show as the main contestant in the hope he wins big to pay off his debts.

It also dealt with how the show got on the television in the first place. An idea from some of Jasper Carrott's comedy writers including Steven Knight who went on to create Peaky Blinders.

Very good, fluent writing. Snappy and clever dialogue. Directing is good and stands out like the dialogue. Acting is great and the story is very compelling. I went back and watched the actual Who wants to be a millionaire episode. A good first episode.
