Yes this is exactly what happened in Houston Texas. I saw it on the local news. Usually they would say it was based on true story

Almost by the letter

This movie is based on the story of Houston Pastor Tracey Burleson. I watched a Snapped episode about it a while ago and recognized the storyline from the very beginning. The only details that I noticed that are different are names and locations. It's so exact that the movie even includes the fact that, the night of the murder, the pastor and his wife had a fight and then he went to the store for a bag of chips. When he came back, she had been shot dead in the driveway of their home. I felt like I was watching an extended episode of Snapped.
