Dragonball Evolution

Preguntas frecuentes

Dragonball: Evolution was loosely inspired by Dragon Ball, a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Japanese manga artist Akira Toriyama and originally serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from 1984 through 1995. It was later published as a tankobon series, and an entire Dragon Ball media franchise, including anime films, video games, and art books, has evolved from it. Dragon Ball was inspired by Journey to the West (anon., 1590s), considered to be one of the four great classical novels of Chinese literature.

Principle photography began in November 2007; production moved to Mexico in January 2008 for a worldwide planned release date of August 15th, 2008, which was subsequently postponed to April 2009. Filming finished in March 2008. About 85% of the film was shot in Durango, Mexico. Locations included the Mexiquillo Forest, Marley Ranch, Hacienda la Providencia, La Joya Ranch, Laguna Seca de Santiaguillo and a forum from a Convention Center in the Culture Institute. Production moved to Estado De México for some shots at the volcano Nevado de Toluca. James Marsters had stated that the budget was 100 million USD, though only 30 million USD was ever verified.

No, Justin Chatwin uses his natural hair, since his hairdo is not at all related to the classic animated Goku.

Due to the fact that James Wong wanted to focus more in smaller amount of characters, the creative team dropped important characters that they thought would not be necessary. They do not exist in this Universe.

Piccolo is light green because of his old age and lack of sunlight for 2,000 years. In his youth, he was darker green, but director Wong wanted Piccolo's transformation to be bigger and more dramatic than it was in the anime.

Yes, but only for a brief time during the final fight between Goku and Piccolo.

In the anime and manga, the Dragonball world was not our world, despite having the name earth, like Middle-earth in The Lord of the Rings. Many things, such as dinosaurs, flying cars and animal-people, clue most viewers in, that Dragonball is probably a different dimension or galaxy. As for the movie, most are unsure if it is in our world or the "dragonball" world; though most have acquiesced to the latter of the two.

Actually the production team tried making Bulma's hair turquoise, but Director James Wong thought it was unrealistic, so they put it out. But a blue streak on Bulma's hair can still be seen.

Yes, after the "animated" credits there is a brief scene.
