Back to the Rafters

Viewer of original series. First few seasons were funny, warm, challenges overcome. Reboot season one of Back to the Rafters. Same enjoyable sibling relationships between brothers and older sister. Same capture of love amid struggles between Julie and Dave. Same fun energy. Ruby is written to be agenda-driven. No adorable addition to the family. Look at Home Improvement TV show to see what a child her age can get into with comic results. We already see agenda in the news, do not need it shoved at us every time we tune into Back to the Rafters. Nate should see professional success if he has to attend graduate school to do it for a redirect. If a season two is forthcoming, turn up the humor and tone down Ruby. Actors are wonderful.

Man, what on earth were they thinking. They should have left it alone. I'm only 10 minutes into the First episode and it stinks. Bad acting and no emotion. An old character Playing a completely new character? Lol.

Ruby is painful.

Poor Rebecca Gibney. Best she forget this one.

I was excited to watch this new series.. So excited that I re watched S6 to refresh my memory.. The first few episodes of this new series were were true to form.. Nathan the insipid.. Everything is everyone else's fault.. Ben the brat.. Totally shocked that the world doesn't revolve around him.

Rachel the invisible.. Lucky to have escaped to New York.. Dave the oblivious.. Hear no evil, see no evil, etc.. Julie the magnificent.. The perfect mother, wife and daughter.. Ted the impenetrable.. Thank God for Ted.. As I said it started off okay.. Then it drifted off into something that is so "woke " and "lit" (they actually used the words).. If there's an issue on the planet, they highlighted it.. It just became really, really monotonous.. And if Ruby is an example of a modern 8 years old child, I fear for seniors of tomorrow..

The overall show is quite enjoyable. The character Ruby is played by an amazing little actress, but the character is written to be an insufferable little brat that will likely grow up to be jailed repeatedly for violent protesting.

Agree that I, too, am missing many of the original gang including Jake, Coby etc. In the original series, I found that some characters grew on me but, alas, not the much loved Julie who gave new meaning to passive-aggressive. And for goodness sake, get a hairstyle! Or a comb! Missing the original Rachel, too. Only one episode into Back and yes, Ruby does seem beyond precocious.
