Black Metal: The Ultimate Documentary

The doco starts out interesting enough but quickly turns into garbage. Its basically made up of 30 years worth of some guys home video collection badly edited trying to make himself famous through other people.

This production gets nasty quickly as the interviewers start using the n word constantly for no reason and soon turns the doco into a vessel of right wing hate and has almost no relevance to the actual music. You can visibly see the confusion in some bands faces.

Basically a show reel of bad interviews by a drunk irrelevant poser.

I'm mostly writing this review so I remember that I watched something on Tubi in March of 2023 that resembles this IMDB listed film, but the title is Black Metal and Other Dark Music. Like the only other reviewer currently mentioned, you don't really know what documentary you are watching throughout. The topics jump around, and some interviewees discuss several of these topics. The selection of interviewees is vast and varied. From them, and their music used within the film, an excellent selection potentially-new-to-you recordings are seen and heard from seemingly studio and live performances. It left me wanting more, and it also gave me a lot to run with.
