Emotional, reflective, and very powerful short film due to an inspiring story with great moments. "Napo" is a cure for the genre and without a doubt, it is totally worth it. With an interesting premise that goes beyond a children's animation. The entire message it encompasses is sublime and well-executed.
Director Gustavo Ribeiro has left a rather memorable animated short film, reflecting his inspiration, but adding another impactful sense for the viewers. The way dedication, commemoration, and subtlety are employed speaks for itself.
It's impossible to watch this short film and not remember the character of Carl Fredricksen from the 2009 movie "Up," the references are very clear. It could easily be another alternate timeline where Carl and Ellie had a daughter.
In its animation section, it can be mentioned that it is well-crafted with great movement sequences, a high level of detail, color tonality, and that characteristic style of character designs. A decent and simple animation that meets the expectations of what the story wants to convey.
"Napo" fulfills its purpose with reflective messages already established from the beginning, giving more impetus to the narrative argument, as well as fostering those important reflective messages about family bonds, love, photographs, imagination, love for drawing, creativity, childhood, traumas caused by losses, and those feelings of not moving forward in life due to impactful moments.
The music is quite decent and accompanies the scenes at all times.
Perhaps among its negative points in the animation are some somewhat forced expressions, but other than that, very good.
The entire focus on photography and the way of making transitions between animations to recreate the events of our protagonist are brilliant. On the other hand, the help of a person who cares about motivating to improve emotional status and balance an environment of harmony becomes evident.
