It was half good, I will give it that. Actors were not relatable or memorable. Krill was cute, that's about it. Tip-A better movie to watch would have to be American Ultra or Werewolves Within. I do not recommend even if you have free time on your hands.

I thought it was a very good story. I'm thinking a lot of the negative reviews are on the 'acting' the only bad acting/script is the Americanisation of the dubbing. The rest of the world don't speak with an American dialect. So makes this Russian film seem poorly scripted. But it's not. Just poorly dubbed.

It's certainly not the predictable Hollywood type supernatural/horror. Yet again possibly why some are negative towards it. Because it's just not Hollywood enough!

What unfolds is a chilling descent into a love transformed into something monstrous. While Cyril does return to Zhenya, his affection is warped into a terrifying, all-consuming possessiveness. The film masterfully portrays how this twisted devotion manifests in his behavior, turning what should be a reunion into a suffocating nightmare. His actions become increasingly extreme, driven by a maddened desire to keep Zhenya entirely to himself, even if it means eliminating any perceived threat to their bond. The very essence of love and lust is distorted, becoming a destructive force that traps both characters in a horrifying cycle.

"Dark Spell" delves deep into the psychological torment of its characters, exploring the irreversible nature of the dark ritual. The film highlights how the spell's power transcends even death, ensuring that the demonic pact continues to bind them in a horrifying union. It's a suspenseful and unsettling journey into the perils of manipulating fate, where the bonds of love become chains of terror.

The cinematography and lighting with the thriller parts are so good. Very very underrated work of art and the performance of actors were awesome. Quite a good movie.

Stories about summoning a demon never end well. Including this movie. Spoiler alert : the ending doesn't favor the protagonist. One thing I don't like about the protagonist is that she's a stereotypical weak minded woman who's willing to do anything or sacrifice anything to conform to other people's will. In this case, her selfish desire to own her crappy boyfriend. So if you don't like this kind of person, don't watch this movie. I did because the horror side was just good to watch. The jump scares were reasonable, not cheap ones. Solid 7 from me. I don't know why other people rated it so poorly. Maybe because it's from Russia. I mean, you can hate the country, but why condemn a perfectly good movie just for that? I'm not biased towards any political agenda. When I see something good, I give good rating. This movie does not deserve rating under 5 stars. The acting was decent, the plot was solid (even though it's predictable), and although there wasn't any plot twists, the story is still interesting enough to follow through.
