The Doors Between Us

The second half of the movie really flies off the rails and I loved it. For like the first 30 minutes I was confused and wasn't sure what was happening. There is seriously so much going on that it's hard to focus/hear on everything the characters are saying and doing. Lots of yelling matches.

Like I said up top this movie is impressively odd. The characters are strange and the dark music behind the whole thing gives an odd creepiness to the humor. Pasquino especially was just F-----n weird "Ohhhhhh we're in troouuuuuble"

This movie is best in a theater HOWEVER after watching it again at home I found myself still enjoying it. It's not as much of a midnight classic as THINGS or The Room........ but if those two movies had a baby and then peed on it it'd be The Doors Between Us.

Unusual, strange and fabulous. Never seen anything like it before. I don't know what else to say but that I love this movie. A midnight classic in the making.

Man, I had a lot of fun watching this. I was invited by a mutual friend to go see the premiere and boy did we laugh a lot. I was genuinely confused at the end, and the beginning but the middle chunk and the moments leading up to the ending were amazing. I've never seen a movie like this. I think I can honestly say that. The audio is wonky at times, and sometimes there is just a lot going on, but for a midnight low budget movie it was great.

It was also my first premiere I've ever been to and after seeing how this one went, I want to go to so many more! I hope these guys make another movie soon. I had a blast!

This film had me laughing all the way through. It was loud, shocking and a little messy at times, but that's what makes it such a fantastic watch. The haunting score combined with the terrific cinematography makes this film a fully immersive experience. I recommend this to anyone and everyone for a good laugh and intriguing story. A truly original film.

Boy where to start?

The bottom line for me is that even though this film has its faults it made me laugh quite a bit, and at stuff I definitely hadn't seen before. The alcoholic war veteran being stuck in a bathroom with a clown that talks like Jar Jar Binks was a new one.

This is NOT a studio comedy, in fact I'd say its the exact opposite of that. Not so much set ups and punchlines as just raw....I don't know. Obscurity? Mayhem? This is a tough one to describe.

Is it about 20 minutes too long? Yes. Is the audio spectrum uneven? Yes. Is the plot pretty aimless? Yes. But are those not all qualities of good midnight movies?

In summation, I liked it. The first 30 minutes were pretty wild and uneven but once it hits its stride I really grew to enjoy the movies sense of humor. I didn't know two guys arguing over a bowl of cocaine was funny to me but hey, I guess it is.

It also added to the experience seeing this in a movie theater late at night (I think the screening I saw was at 10pm). Getting to see a crowds reaction to a movie like this was half of the fun. Would definitely go to a screening again.
