The Tale of the Fatherless is a profound yet heart racing film that centres around fatherlessness in the Midlands.
Aside from the many positives that surround the film, a special mention must go to the acting and scriptwriting of the film.
Stefan Davis (director and actor in the production) plays a fantastic part in depicting troubled protagonist, Tyrell. Davis acts with passion and integrity, and his performance is certainly a highlight of the film.
Parallel to this, the screenplay written by Sade Davis and Misha Elliot is a true testament to the overall message of the film. Not only do they depict issues of fatherlessness in an authentic and thought provoking way, the additional themes of race and religion shine through the script and are heard throughout the film.
The Tale of the Fatherless is a rather rare example of authentic filmmaking, and despite what may seem, it is a film with soul, unity, and family at the heart of it.

The film was nominated for Best film at the British Urban film festival for a reason. Simply brilliant! Authentic, creative and thought-provoking with some stand-out performances. The film brings some real deep topics to the surface but embraces the trauma with love, understanding and hope.
No surprise to witness great performances from Stefan Davis (Tyrell) and Andre Hesson (Cassius) but I was left wanting to see a lot more from Llewela Bailey (Bianca), her debut performance on the big screen was amazing, really convincing and took us on a journey of emotions and I know a lot of young women can relate to her character. Beverley (Jackie) and Leighta (Kyla) were hilarious. The whole cast were brilliant and an inspiration to our community.
Sade. Mica and Stefan deserve every success!

I was able to watch this film at Birmingham Odeon and it was a brilliant piece of cinema. The film had emotion, humour, tension and wisdom all in one.
The cast all worked well together and the story was written and directed very well. I literally have no criticisms. I think the only thing I would say is the runtime could've been a bit shorter, but as the extra segments added to the overall film, it's not something that would be a major issue for me.
Definitely would watch again and it's a film all communities need to watch, not just the black community only.

I went to watch this film today and I didn't take my eyes off the screen even for one second. The story had humour, emotion, tension and was thought provoking. Every member of the cast worked so well together. A must see film for sure.
