A film trailer for the cult film "Detéctive" by Jean-Luc Godard, the director presents a film-noir style where a man (Michel Beaune) tries to convince a woman
(Fiona Gélin) to go with him to watch Godard's film but to no avail since she keeps rejecting the man's offer. A drastic situation ensues and then he breaks the fourth
wall to make the same proposition to us viewers but instead of just repeating a question he mentions that "Detéctive" is Godard's latest film and then he mentions the
actors who appear in the movie. If taken into consideration the idea of trailers back in the 1980's and how they are today, this is a rare original work of art that
seduces the viewer without showing anything about the movie itself. It's a very daring and crazy idea but it's interesting to see, there's humor and a great sense of
curiosity involved. Hope I get to see the film one day - I tried to watch a long time ago but I don't remember what happened that I missed. As for this trailer, it ranks
among one of the best Godard ever did for one of his movies. 8/10.
